Why ya'll keep talking about my balls? I wasn't sweating down there!

Ajax-Prime: When you do get the Eisenmann Sport, let's take a video of your car again and I'll edit it into the current video. It won't take long to do that edit.

Yes. Please I think people who like something nice tone but daily drivable volume (and entry level "older crowd" like me) will look for Eisenmann Sport. I'm considering between Eisenmann sport and Dinan.

But thank you so much for taking time and making awesomest exhaust comparison video!

Sure. We should do it pretty quickly though. I don't think the neighbors were too thrilled with us.

You did great man ; the camera was simply too far away from the starting point, and too close to the 'braking' point.

That brings me to my point. At least in my case, when I chose the 'best' sounding system that meant the best I was willing to live with, which was Dinan (too cheap-looking for me, so stayed stock). But if you ask me what's the system that makes our cars sound best, I'd vote AA.

And yes, I must be getting old too since I used to choose my exhaust systems based on what sounded best for the car, not best to me. And the results usually meant awful drone I couldn't live with, so now I follow my priorities . By the way, this is the first time I'm satisfied with a stock system. Not completely satisfied, but satisfied. Didn't want to ruin MY experience of driving this car when I'll never hear it outside, so now the sound others hear outside is no longer my #1 priority , but I certainly love to hear that V8 sing vicariously. Again, great work folks .

I have got to admit, the AA and the ER sound incredible. I just don't think I could live with the interior sound level, but this definately confirms the OE is just too tame. This is the best comparo I've seen!

Thanks for putting this all together, it definitely helped me make my decision in which exhaust I should get. Only question left would be how does remus and eisenmann sport sound since they are both tuv approved. I was towards getting the AA exhaust but after the reviews like TLud, it has definitely made to turn away from that exhaust, coming from an E36 M3 with the AA exhaust and hear that on the E9X M3 is loud definitely is a blah factor to me. I am one of them old farts that wants something louder than stock but without the drone, dinan tips look terrible to me so that is the turn off on that exhaust.

Nice write up Tlud! I'm sure you have helped so much of our friends in this M3 Forum who are really confuse to choose the enhance exhausts for their car, now we know for the fact.... again indeed appreciate you guys who were involved in this event to make this evaluation completed.

For those of you who have asked for our impressions of the different exhaust, here are mine. I'm sure the other guys will add their's as well.

First, those of you with the OEM exhausts should appreciate what you have. It sounds great from outside, especially under heavy acceleration. I think many people want something more because it's very tame at idle and completely unobtrusive inside the cabin, but you need to be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.

The Dinan is probably the next step up in terms of volume from stock. Strictly in terms of decibels it is noticeably louder than OEM from the outside in all situations. In terms of tone, from the outside, the sound of the Dinan is deeper, more burbly, and less mellow than OEM. On a cold start up, the Dinan sounds much deeper, louder and more meaty. Inside the car, you definitely know you don't have the stock exhaust when tooling around town low in the rpm range, but the sound is just lound enough to be noticeable and not loud enough to be obtrusive or annoying. Cruising between 2500 and 3000 rpm its very barely louder than stock from inside. Cruising above 3000 rpm, there is no difference. If you're looking for an exhaust that is a more aggressive and noticeable than stock without becoming annoying inside the cabin, the Dinan is what you're looking for. However, if you're looking for a higher-pitched F1-sounding exhaust, this is not it. It's a deeper sound.

The AA has a really nice tone to it. It is much deeper than the OEM exhaust at startup and idle, but when you get on it, the pitch is much higher, with a very exotic sound to it. It also has a very "full" sound that hits all the right notes. Although it sounds almost stock at cruising speed (3,000 rpm and above), between 1,500 and 2,500 the exhaust is extremely loud, both inside the cabin and out. Inside the cabin, it's not a drone, more like a boominess. In my opinion, it was a little overpowering at times, but admittedly, I'm very sensitive to that kind of thing. Down low in the rpm range, it is about the same volume as the Eisenmann Race. Obviously, up higher, the Eisenmann Race is much louder. I'm sure Frank can give a lot more input on the sound and day-to-day driveability. These are just my impressions from having ridden in his car.

The Eisenmann Race has a beautifully muscular sound from outside. No matter what situation it's in, it's clearly serious business. Inside the car, like you'd expect it is loud, but the sound is so nice, I didn't mind. Granted, I only spent a couple minutes inside Ajax's car, so I didn't get a sense of what it would be like to live with this exhaust in a daily driver situation. I also didn't get a chance to hear what his car sounds like at highway cruising speeds, so I'll let him comment on that.

Yeah, stock sounds really nice. After reading (and hearing) this great thread, I have zero regrets about keeping my system stock (and painting it flat black), as even the Dinan is louder inside, and I just can't get past how cheap it looks (no offense Tlud )... but on the plus side, it's the best sounding of them all IMO. Thanks again for doing this for us .
Frank, great job on the vid. It will be very informative for those like me who are stumped between the many exhaust options out there.

While all the exhausts in the comparison sounded great in their on ways (especially in person), I have to agree with you that I think I'm going to keep my stock system with the addition of an x-pipe.

JC919: I've never heard of stock exhaust with X-pipe before. I wonder if it will sound as loud as the Dinan or quieter? Which X-Pipe brand are you thinking about going with?
