Comfort Access
Hello Everyone,
Much has been talked about the CA, but I am yet to see a post with the same issue I have had. Go for the door handle; door doesn't open. Door was previously closed using the CA touching the handle function. Pushing the button on the key fob doesn't do anything. I have to use the physical key to open the door and everything works well for a period of time, days, even weeks. One thing that also happens is that the functions assigned to the "programmable buttons", those 6 buttons below the AC panel, get all erased, but only for a few hours. ISTA doesn't show anything. What do you think? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Brgds. |

Hmm, interesting. I've lost CA (+ welcome angel eyes etc) before due to low charge but never the programmable buttons, can't remember I've read about that either. Like in your case they tend to come back (come to think of it its only some of the right half of the 8 buttons that gets lost).

I have only one button programmed as a fact of the matter; button 1 which is oil level. When this happens, it shows something like "unassigned", something like that.
I also leave the car on battery charger [CTEK MXS 25EC] from time to time. This is really bugging me. Thanks again. |

FWIW on my 128i I ended up getting water leaked into my trunk and it came in contact with my Passive GO control modile which fried it, and took the wiring harness and diversity antennae with it. Plus of course burned the fuse for the door locks. Then my door lock actuator gave up the ghost during troubleshooting. Had to replace all of that (and maybe recode the Passive GO module?) to fix it.
Check your fuses for the doors; could be fuse 61 or 63 if its similar to the 128i. Good luck. |

this could be a symptom of a failed FRM module and your car no longer remembers any of the chassis coding.
it can be benched and reset for around $150 - car will still function without if you need to drive, but you wont be able to lock your doors or anything else as the car wont know what to do.

and it probably wouldn't work intermittently, but its always sporadic and random how the FRM fails as well so i wouldn't put it past it. it can even fail once you plugged your cable into the OBD2 Port for example.
