Limp Mode at high RPM
Update***** issue resolved- engine ground wire loose.
Had my 08 DCt out today was running fine, however at higher RPM 7k it kicked into limp mode and lit up like a Christmas tree. Turned it off and started it back on and everything was normal, then it stalled. Started back up no issues. At one point when I accelerated in limp mode it would not go, had to pull over and turn back on. Just had the rod bearings done last week as well. Photos attached of codes.... any direction to go with this? I recently purchased this vehicle, previous owner (a member) advised that the throttle actuator’s were done approximately 10,000 miles ago. Any input would be appreciated. Last picture on this is after clearing the codes after approx 4hrs On a battery charger. Last edited by Whitjct; 03-31-2020 at 03:54 PM.. |

Thanks.... cleared the codes after charging for about 4 hrs...Went out stalled in the road, turned it off and back on.... turned on my flashers which started going wonky, fast flash then off then right one only then both. Got it home and ran the codes..... (see first post of updated codes).

Low power to the junction box could cause the DME to be unhappy, thus engine protection. Dying batteries do cause a whole slew of check lights as devices are starving for power. I would suspect reassembling of things didn't go smooth, like an electrical plug or partially plugged in cable. The grounding is a plausible and easily forgotten point.

you are correct and i agree but i have had a few melted ones and there wasnt a check engine light, nothing inside the car worked and it didnt start as nothing on the inside had power to operate. weak battery on cars that had either old batteries or were in storage a lot have a multitude of weird check engine lights but once it was running and the alternator was putting out i never had on in limp mode, not saying it isnt possible just havent had it happen
