Well I thought I'd throw out an update since it's been a while. I didn't realize I was approaching 3k on these bearings, but I just did a 500 mile trip and they're still going strong.

I am also glad you are keeping your car unlike some douchebags instantly thinking you are going to trade it in at a local CarMax. Those who judge quickly are the ones that probably would have done what their words say. They just can't stand others doing the same. Way too fking loose on themselves while being hard on others. |

You sound like a cool dude. We should meet up some day at a local M meet. Enjoy your car man.

Carmax likely would replace it, but it doesn't make it fair because that wouldn't be to them as a company. This is fun anyway. It's the most expensive test of time I've ever endured, but so far everything is fine.

Wow! I'm amazed your engine has lasted this long! I guess that damage to the journal was very light.
Btw, I understand why you did a 1/2 arsed repair as you were out of a job, bad timing! . But now presumably you're back in a job, I would've thought it'd be worth properly repairing it rather then letting it blow? And surely cheaper? [edit] For a minute their I forgot about the coronavirus crisis! Now's probably not a good time..... Re oil analysis, you might want to check out my thread linked in my sig! Although you have done the essential 1st analysis. Oh & thanks for keeping this thread upto date , I'm going through the blown engine registry & it's frustrating when people don't post enough info or finish up the story! Keep us posted Forgot to say, with your luck you should throw a few numbers at the lottery .

If you meant op (you've got multiple typos there ) did it in time, no he didn't, he left it just a bit too late as the bearings were knocking & the crank was damaged slightly, I was saying he's been lucky to get 10k miles from it with no signs of trouble currently.
