Lol. Every ad, brochure, poster etc had LSB and Phoenix yellow. The two M exclusive introductory colors aren’t iconic but silver is? Interesting !

haha for a second I thought you said that because of CSL. Silver grey and titanium silver are very common and both great. 46M came on many many beautiful colors.

I personally think that E90/92 M3 values are holding up fairly strong...if you look at them in conjunction with E36/E46 M3 values in period, the E9x generation is holding it's value far better. Ten to twelve years after the release of E36s & E46s, you could pickup a clean example for $10-$20k. The same cannot be said for the E9x M3. Good examples are still selling in the 30s ten to twelve years after their inception. I beleive people appreciate the fact that these cars are the last geneartion M3s with machanical steering, NA engines, no fake engine sounds, etc.

I could be totally wrong, time will tell.

Talking to auto enthusiasts in Germany and in the US, I was told not to be too hasty in devaluing the first year car. It had a shorter year of production and more care was put into fit and finish. In fact, they said the further away you get from the first run, original '08, it will hold value as well if not better. Time will tell.

As someone in the market for one and willing to pay top dollar(45k is my budget) to compliment my Paint to Sample GT4 in the garage, only a small number of cars can command the 35-45k price point that someone like me is willing to pay. It's either an individual color M3 or a "enthusiast spec stripper" car. But even if its a stripper spec, no one's going to be paying 40k+ for it if it's an 08. They really have to be 2011+ for the E92 or 09+ for the E90's but probably a 2011 with ZCP.

Very true.

An individual, stripper spec, LCI ZCP is where the money is at.

That’s a 50k car all day long. Someone who is crazy for individual color would probably pay more than 60k for it

Damn, scoop it up then resell it to EAG. Too bad they drilled the front plate.

Looks like it's about to go to auction? Or it's at a carmax pre-sale lot?

That must be the legendary euro delivery car that was painted the wrong color. Don't personally care for that color.

I agree. What's in our favor is that early F8x's sound horrible and are a bit leary in the wet (and the dry for that matter). Anyone in the market for an M3 must surely be questioning why to spend the extra on an early F8x vs a clean E9x, and I think that keeps our values high.

If it's in very good shape agreed this will be $45k easily on BaT, maybe a little higher if it's a slicktop.

Depending on condition/owners probably $35-37?. This is a recent sale at $40 on BaT but the car was very clean and only 36k

Just to chime in, e9x will certainly follow the path of prior M "analog" M cars, being the last naturally aspirated M3 available without idrive or other BS. Hydraulic steering, you've heard it all.

In 15 years, even cars with >100k, as long as they are unmolested and especially in desirable spec (read: special editions, individual paint, slicktops, single hump dash, etc), with good maintenance history and ownership history (read: not cars that have been passed around 12 owners and sent to auction 3 times) will be appreciating like crazy.

In a world where self driving electric robot mobiles become the norm, cars such as the e9x will be increasingly desirable and exotic. They are proving to be more reliable and well built long term than e46M as well, and currently are changing hands at prices that make the e46M value proposition essentially a joke, especially when you consider the additional neediness those cars have.

In summary, if you have a well taken care of unmolested e9x m3, you can drive it as a weekender and take care of it and it will lose nil value short term and will appreciate long term. It's a win-win car.
