Borla ATAK - Any deep tone exhaust suggestions?

Thoughts on the Borla ATAK? I am looking for a deep tone exhaust, and this has looked to be the deepest I could find.

The ATAK is definitely not a deep-sounding exhaust, which is surprising since you'd figure it would from a company like Borla. It has a higher pitch sound, especially in the mid-higher revs.

If you want a deep boomy exhaust, probably the Borla S-Type or Eisenmann Sport.

Like Dan says. ATAK is higher pitch, quite lively note imho. While S-Type is very boomy.

My thoughts on this couple of years ago: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1457106

I recently had one paired with a RKP sport X pipe and it was a truly exotic and mean sound. As others have stated, not exactly a deep tone, but does have some bass to it. If I didn't need a valved rear section, I definitely would have kept it.

From my experience, Gintani has some some of the deepest tones to it but at the price of extreme drone. However, I had a cheap X pipe then so your experience may vary.

IMO, I have test Pipes paired with Megan Racing Exhaust...and the sound is very Deep...Like an American Muscle V8....Its Not Raspy or High Pitch...you may want to meet up with other E9x M3 in your area that maybe can let you hear their setup or ride along....Video sound clips these days don't truly capture the sound of our after market exhaust due to other variation of background noise, wind..etc. Goodluck with your search for your perfect exhaust setup.

The problem with most of these exhausts is that while they sound good from the outside, they drone and it is not pleasant for any highway cruising.

I have the Borla Atak on my car. I love it, loud when I need it, civil when other people need it. I don’t have a sound clip right now though.

Gintani makes the deepest e9x exhaust, specifically the race.

I'm also using the same setup and mostly agree. It sounds incredible. Little bit of drone around 1800-2100 rpm, but very tolerable. Hard to get a truly deep sound without at least a little drone.

I think Borla ATAK is the best exhaust for these cars.

My Active Autowerke Gen 1 has a nice low tone to it. Currently I have mine paired with the stock X, sounds great. I'm either going to replace the X pipe or install test pipes.

If you're not going to touch the x-pipe, I completely agree. It sounds so good, just the perfect amount of volume and it has all the right notes. The ATAK doesn't drown out in the upper revs like most exhausts for this car, still has that sweet exotic warble around 3500-4000 and little to no drone on the highway.

Yep, I should edit my words to say best exhaust axle/cat back. There are probably some good combos with the x-pipe.

If you want a deep boomy exhaust, probably the Borla S-Type or Eisenmann Sport.

I can confirm the Borla S type is very deep. Absolutely no rasp. It's nearly perfect with the macht schnell x-pipe minus that it has a bit of drone in the 1500-2000rpm-ish range. Debating on going to a quad resonated x-pipe.

I have a Megan with test pipes, but it still sounds a little too quiet. Maybe Borla S-type will be next.

I wouldn't say the s-type is loud. It's just deep and can be very bassy at low rpm with a catless xpipe.

I had the ATAK rear exhaust on mine and it sounded great, but it had a terrible drone at 3k - 3.3k RPM. Thats highway speed for me and it drove me crazy, so I put the sock exhaust back on. I did have a bunch of comments on how great it sounded, but I prefer to be a bit more stealthy.

TBH, as you get older when I turn 50...I plan to go back to OEM setup and add M performance exhaust so I don't have to worry about any more drone...and enjoy the induction from my full setup Eventuri balance with OEM Mperformance for my ears.
