Wow dude. Sorry to hear that man. I would be so pissed!!!
I have been pissed.
Ever heard of the broken window theory?
Nothing worse than having something f'd up with your car... if you're not careful you'll let things fall apart and just give up and become overwhelmed.

Maybe I missed it...but...Why wasn't the shock simply repaired at Bilstein USA during this time period? What exactly was the failure??

TIA

I can't believe that Bilstein could get out of honoring their warranty of fixing/replacing the broken damper by claiming unavailability. In that case they should have refunded you completely for the set. Did you ever push them for an alternative solution (like a refund)?

Bilstein said they had no replacement shocks available in the US nor Europe. They rep suggested that I have the shop override the EDC to unstick it from firmest to most comfort. Finally, they said I can send it in and if they find a manufacturing defect then they would replace it. They never offered a rebuild.

I did not. I was looking for options and worked with the shop. The shop offered free labor and sending it back to Bilstein for warranty. I would have been without a car or needing to buy shocks and I would have to wait until replacements were made. That would have been more than a year as we can see.

I called Bilstein s month ago and the rep made every effort to have no clue what happened and had no idea when product would become available.

Sorry I'm not answering the question about the cause of failure.

The shop said the wire connectors are fine yet the computer cannot communicate with the shocks which is why my EDC didn't work.

Personally, I would request BilsteinUSA to disassemble the shock and see if they can repair it. Sounds like it might be an internal wire break/disconnect.

Although I went back to oem in the rear, I'll look into that.

By chance, does anyone know if production will ever pick back up for the B16, Im in no hurry to purchase but would like to buy them now so when my shocks goes, this would be a great alternative for my EDC plug and play...hoping Bilstein will start selling soon...its seems that back order is another excuse for Either Not enough demand....or simply discontinued...imo

Sorry I could never buy a product knowing the fact that if you had a failure or outright damage you can't replace the item.

When it is time going back to OEM EDC for my ZCP. If you are going all out for a track vehicle just move on to a more dedicated setup.

Valid point Dave. I was looking at the B16 myself. Looks like I will need to do something else.

point taken. Its sad when the product has some good reviews however customer support is lacking...i sent an email to them with No reply. Too bad...will definitely stick with OEM or other options.

ECS are showing an ETA of Dec 7, I guess production has restarted. I badly want to try these! Significant damper upgrade with more performance leaning springs whilst retaining the EDC button seems like a win-win.

Doens't mean anything at all. The ETA has been constantly pushed back since Fall 2017 when I have been watching their inventory. It used to be Nov 1 just over a month ago, lol. I have zero faith in any ETA on these. I even reached out to Bilstein's distributors and Bilstein themselves, and the dates keep getting pushed back, every time without fail.

Until I see "In Stock" written on the webpage and a tracking number, I won't believe it.

No, you are charged when it ships.

Once again, see my post above. If its never in stock and you damage them you are fooked.

I gave up on retaining EDC and went with MCS coilovers instead. Couldn't be happier since I would've been sitting duck waiting for these things.

Funny story (not), I've had these coilovers on order from December 2017. The ETA was February 2018, then it was moved to April, then June, then August, then October, then December, then Feb 27, 2019... and here we are. The new ETA for me is April 22nd or some other made up number. I called Bilstein direct to nicely ask if they have a real eta or are they going to discontinue this part number because they haven't made it in 2 years and are stringing customers along. I was told "just get another brand coilover if you can't wait". Great customer service -_-
