Carbon Roof Install Bay Area

Hello All,

Does anyone know of a good body shop in the Bay Area that can re-laquer/gel coat an E92 M3 carbon roof and fit to a sunroof car?

The M3 needs to go on a diet (I've already been on one!).

Thanks!

Would love to know as well. I have not been able to find a shop. May have to make a trip down to Southern California.

I'm going to have to do the same thing, when I lived in the UK a local detailer did it on my E63 M6.

I've found this place which might be able to do it in the Bay area.

Give Palladium Auto Body in Hayward a call. They quoted me to re-do my carbon fiber roof before the pandemic hit. Maybe they can do the install too.

Are you cutting a roof at the a pillars and reinstalling or just doing the carbon panel? Structurally the roof is different between the two specs.. probably better to sell one and buy the other even considering the taxes

Its just a $38 brace that is required to keep the carbon from sagging.

The conversion from sunroof to full carbon roof is actually pretty DIY able.
Remove front/rear glass, the head liner, sunroof glass.
Drill out spot welds
Bolt in the brace
Glue in new roof
Replace glass and seals.

I think that's it?

Just the carbon roof panel. Thanks for the guide, I'm brave enough to do brakes, suspension, throttle actuators etc. but removing front and rear glass I'll leave to the professionals.

The rest I think I could do with that guide.

I don't know about re-laquer/gel coat, but I got quotes in the past to install CF roof on E46 M3 from VT motorworks and Alekshop, so I think they could both handle the installation part at least.

2K miles via the I-80 E . Mate , that's just stretching legs for an M3 .
And for the owner it's actually : "No Pain No Gain" !

Regarding the subject is IND the best ...

How much did they quote you? Looking to do the same, has anybody found a shop that is willing to repair the gelcoat on the carbon fiber roof?

They quoted me $600 based off images I sent them. Did not bring the car to them for a concrete estimate; pandemic hit so this dropped on the priority list.

Would this give the needed clearance to install factory RS roll bar with front extention?

Thanks!
This is a BMW, specifically e9x M forum. Rennlist might be the better avenue?
