E93 retractable roof manual emergency lock/unlock method and tools.

So there are a couple threads on how to manually disengage the hydraulic system so that you can push or pull the roof open or close if it's stuck half way.......... But there is none explaining how to unlock the roof lock when it is jammed or one side stuck/locked.

The stupid body shop guy tried to push the roof open on the drivers side with the windows up and somehow managed to pop that side up/open, and the passenger side is still locked in place.(now the warning light is flashing and wont allow any lock or unlock functions).

I spoke to BMW and they told me where the lock for the roof is on the underside/front of the roof directly above the mirror. and they said there should be some tool for this.

I don't have one in my car nor does anyone I know.

Has anyone had this problem or know if that is the right spot to unlock it. and what the hell does the tool look like or what is it called?

Please help... Widebody is delayed due to this BS....

Reinstall the plastic trim

Hi,

My roof actuator trim fell off and I was wondering if there is a special technique to reinstall it. One of the tabs goes in easily but the second tab doesn't seem to want to go back in and I don't want to force it and break it.

Could you share how you reinstalled the trim piece?

Thanks.

manually unlock / lock roof

hiya - you don't need a tool

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...g-roof/Oo6fIqh

Well BMW say you do and its basically a slide hammer.
However you shouldn't need it - I just;
found a screw with the right thread size
screwed it in finger tight
give it a gentle pull and the pin will drop
then use spanner to turn the pin to lock or unlock the front and middle portion of the roof together.
to lock the rear part of the roof is more tricky - manual link shows how but haven't done myself.
cheers

435i emergency manual top lock

I had a window motor issue(flooded window well) and had to manually lock the top. repairs have been made and the manual lock pin will not push back into place to allow top latches to operate electrically again. mechanic who did window work is at a loss, how to put the top back into service after manually locking it?
