I would say I'm in M-mode 90% of time (never when raining or damp).
My setting on a 6mt are mainly for MDM and steering feel. I keep the "power" button off. I tried power on Vs off and while it's definitely more peppy with the snappier throttle I don't feel it's very linear with surges occurring unintentionally sometimes. Plus, with the power to normal you really have to put the pedal down to get max acceleration - since I typically am under 50% throttle it makes it feel like there is some extra when you really are on it!

How much does the M mode effect the drive-ability of a DCT car? Particularly at low speeds.
I have my M button set to the highest performance levels but if I'm driving around the city I'll usually leave it off. I find it hard to drive the car smoothly off the line unless I'm being super careful or accelerating hard. |

Gotcha! Not sure why the previous setting is not being saved for your key. Supposed to be according to the manual but obviously not working as advertised...

I know, not sure if there's an issue with my car, or it's supposed to be this way now

I do day-to-day stuff without M, but flick it on when I want to slap a grin on my face (not that it isn't already there to begin with).
With POWER on, I actually find the throttle to be a lot more controllable, and I like that there is so much more response with little input. My M Settings: Power: On EDC: Sport DSC: Off I think I'm missing something there, but I have it at the most aggressive settings. I like my 4-3 downshifts and 3-2's a lot more with POWER on. Love it! wop WOP.

I don't drive with M mode on most of time, but tonight the car felt especially sluggish without it. So, I put it on and I was like "holy shit, why don't I drive it with the damn thing on ALL the time?" After almost 3 years, it still puts a smile on my face. WOW!

Yes.
OK seriously - M mode turns on MDM and puts the steering into sport in my M3. Nothing else (my frail back doesn't really see the point of the active dampeners). I then manually control the power button -- Sport + when I'm feeling blippy, but off (Normal) when driving around town. MDM stays on in the wet too. I'm pretty careful, and so far I like extra squirrreliness MDM affords at low speeds. It manages to reign me in whenever I get too exuberant, especially at higher speeds Does anyone have an experience where MDM (US tune) has gotten them into trouble?

lol this is an OLD thread... almost 3 years later and now i have mastered my craft of the 6MT. I Keep the power on Sport all the time and kick on the Mdrive for particular turns I want to take with the tighter suspension.

I only drive in M mode... why would one not? Have to learn to master the car sometime, why not on the street? I tried the M5 without the M modes when commuting, not a lick of difference on gas consumption.
