Service Reset to Correct Values (Oil and Brakes)
I had my 2009 e90 M3 serviced at BMW Indy Shops in LA this year, but the Service Intervals were not reset correctly.
- After the Liquid Moly 10w-60 oil change, the Service Interval was reset to 12,000 miles, instead 15,000 miles. - After the brake rotor and pads service with new wear sensors, the Service Interval was only reset to 34k/37k miles, instead of the 70k/80k-ish mile Service Intervals that I remember when the dealership did the work (for twice as much $$$$). I have the Carly Adapter and BMW Software and that didn't work either. I think at the BMW dealership, the Techs can manually set the Service Intervals to the correct values by incrementing the mileage 1000 miles at a time. Anyone have the same experience or know a fix. Most of those intervals can be reset from the turn signal stalk. There are numerous videos on you tube that show how to do it. Just make sure the fob is inserted. I tend to forget that and get frustrated when it doesn't work!
Oil interval should be less than 15k anyway! But it shouldn't matter as one can reset them without any tools. |

I know how to do the reset from the BC stalk. It comes up with the wrong service intervals that are all over the place.
Had an oil change done this weekend with Liquid Moly 5w40 on my F30 335i M-Sport. It came up with 11k miles. Not the correct 10k or 15k miles. For oil changes I am doing 5k-7.5k mile oil changes, so it doesn't matter. For brakes and rotors on my e90 M3, going from 70k/80k miles to 34k/37k miles, it is a big deal. Once it goes to a red warning, you have to change the brake wear sensors (No Reset). The default service intervals should be built into the ECU software. Cheers |
