Nice job Gabe on the 1:51. I'm sure there's room to sneak into the 1:40s.

With the track to yourself, were there no corner workers? Glen cool with you practicing your drifting?

Have you slotted your strut tower holes?

Yeah, with more practice to build consistency along with some new tires, the car should be in the 40s. I may make the new tire commitment after the aero shows up. So maybe late Jan/early Feb I'll try to find a nice cool (not frigid) non-snow day and give it a shot.

Nope, no corner workers. Literally, it was Glenn and the other dude that's always there (I don't know his name), and that was it. And they weren't watching me via the camera system. They were busy doing some grading work along the side of the paddock (making a storage area for the facility equipment). I rolled up and Glenn said, "Ready to have some fun? You have the place to yourself." They were completely hands-off all day. Just let me do my thing. They didn't even take payment in the AM. I asked several times if they wanted payment and they kept saying we'll do it later. I had to chase them down at like 3PM to pay! They were very nice. Kept asking me if I was having a nice time.

hehe Perhaps a picture can better describe the scene:

Good stuff! There's a 49.xx easily in there. A little dialing in and a little more familiarity with the new setup and you'll get there. I think the time delta from BW to HPR is ~1s assuming optimal conditions for each place.

Haha it’s really quite simple. The Pirelli 305 is the fattest slick I can fit in front and the Yoko 300 (which is an inch wider than the Pirelli is the fattest slick I can put at the rear.
We are on the same page.
295 RR on the rear and 285 PS91 on the front.
Who else is joining the movement?

In don't think anyone's joining that specific tire split movement. But there's always a chance for you to pivot.

Thanks! Yes, I agree that I have more work to do there.

Anyway, that was day 1 and it was a fun start.

I meant pivot from the tire selection. Like a startup pivoting their business model to a new direction.

If you have a faster configuration for ~$400 a set, I am pivoting tomorrow.

Fun to have the track to yourself. Had something close to that with some friends back when Spring Mountain was a motorhome and a few fabric sprung buildings and only one configuration. My wife was running all alone for over 45 minutes! She came in and asked if anyone was going to join her or if we were just going to keep puttering on our cars. Fun times.

Yeah, having a quiet track allows you to stay focused on your driving. No distractions. I posted the pic of the car in the empty paddock on Instagram today and joked that I needed some other excuses for bad lap times because the “I got stuck in traffic” excuse wouldn’t work. Got a couple funny responses.

"I am legend" or "The Langoliers" track day lol. That must have been surreal but also stress free?

Hey dogbone, have you thought about increasing the wing AOA before swapping softer rear springs in? Could get more overall grip and keep the rear in check in the higher speed stuff where it's currently sketchy.

The stress is not there as far as wondering if your first hot lap will be open when the engine and tires are fresh. But I enjoy social track days. So I miss that part of it when it’s quiet like that. I’ve done semi-exclusive days at Buttonwillow several times over the years where I was basically the only one there, so I’m familiar with the idea of it.

I increased the AOA at Chuckwalla a couple degrees and that was nice. But I’m actually losing the tail at low speeds. Aero can’t do a whole lot there. Given that the 13k spring is in the 1400lbs divorced range, I don’t see any harm in trying a lower spring rate. If I don’t like it, it’s not hard to go back.

Totally agree. My spring collection is also growing.
