Arrow *Coloured Gauge Face Replacements

**I have no affiliation to the seller, just sharing a very cool top quality product that I happened to find online**

After seeing the cheap sticker overlays going around on social media for our M3 gauges, I thought I'd post about these that are immeasurably better quality. 100% comparable to OEM.

They are not stickers that you slap on top of your OE faces (like Eurocustoms lol). They are proper OEM material and thickness, with blotting ink on the backside so it lights up 100% stock. The font consistency, spacing, typeface is 100% OEM. I am incredibly OCD about details such as this. I was legitimately impressed and did not expect this level of quality especially at less than what crappy sticker overlays cost.

http://venoxy.com/en/main/291-bmw-e9...om-gauges.html

I bought a set of grey ones for my 328i and red for the M3 with a customized backlit "M3" logo for the tachometer face. Excuse my old ass dSLR's photo quality...

Other colours/print styles:

INSTRUCTIONS:

Parts needed:
What is not covered:
  • removal of the instrument cluster from your car
  • disassembling the cluster itself (see the DIY guide HERE)

See the link above to:
  • remove the cluster
  • remove the needles
  • remove the faceplate from the PCB

Let's Begin.

You should now be looking at this:

  1. On the back of the clusters, pull the tabs outwards (blue arrows) while pushing down (yellow arrows) to remove the speedo and tach dials:

  2. Use a blow dryer to heat up and assist in peeling the face off the transparent plastic housing. Don't be afraid to peel it off with some oomph, it's rather thick and glued down well. Clean any residual adhesive off the plastic housing with an alcohol wipe.

After removing the dials on both clusters, you'll be left with this:

  3. IMPORTANT: when putting the replacement faces onto the plastic housings, take grat care to ensure they are perfectly centered on the needle openings AND the there is even coverage on the outermost edge of the housing, otherwise some light may bleed from this area at night. This was barely noticeable, but enough to bother me when it was not perfect.

  4. Re-install the speedo/tach gauge dials, they just pop right in.
  5. Re-assemble the faceplate and your PCB board. Again, they just snap together.
  6. IMPORTANT Plug in the cluster (without the lens back on yet). Put the car in accessory mode, turn it off, then disconnect the cluster. This will reset all four stepper motors for the needles to point 0.
  7. Very carefully, firmly push the needless back on whilst pointing them to 0, taking care not to push too hard so as to damage the needle motor. I find placing a finger on the underside where the metal pin (see arrows below) helps keep it stable so the motor doesn't get damaged internally:

  8. Complete the re-assembly of the cluster and enjoy!

NEEDLE ADJUSTMENTS (IF NECESSARY)

Coding:

Open Perfekt Toolbox (BMW Standard Tools must be installed)
  1. click "Read Everything"
  2. open the dropdown on the Kombi/Cluster tab in the left column
  3. select the appropriate submenu for the other needle you wish to adjust
  4. SAVE YOUR STOCK SETTINGS BEFORE PROCEEDING!
  5. Adjust the "Start Position Offset" to move the needle closer to zero by trial and error.
  6. click "Write to ECU"

Can't wait to do these on my black backlit M logo ones.

Waiting for them to ship as they did say it would take a few weeks.

It's such a nice little touch, I'm extremely satisfied with mine.

Yup, I figured it's appropriate to have a dedicated thread on this topic and give any more credence to EuroCustoms lol.

Did you find you needed to reset the needles?

I managed to get them bang on pretty much to 0, but fine tuned them like 1-2mm further with Perfekt Toolbox. 99% of people wouldn't have noticed the being so slightly off but it bothered me lol.

I ordered a set of white ones too, just to try them out. I definitely think the grey ones are the best OE+ looking option. Had I not gotten the grey ones for my 328i, I would've likely gotten them for the M3 too.

Then again that's just me being super indecisive about these little things, lol.

There's a few photos on venoxy.com's webpage for the gauges.

They all look the same at night, you don't notice the coloured face at all when it's dark - only the crisp backlighting for the numbers like stock. I posted a pic of my red ones in a night shot in the first post.

He's a one man show so it takes quite some time. If you guys are expecting quick shipping and immediate processing, you'll be disappointed...

What more do you need? I've posted detailed reviews of how the product installs and fits. The color choice will not affect any of that.

I didn't expect quick shipping, just thought he would at least email me when he shipped it.
Either way, he responded to my email promptly and it's coming soon!

I actually changed my order to the grey ones, so I only have the red ones for sale (pre-installed on the stock backing plates).

Let me know if you're interested.
