Thumbs up FS/FT: Blown s65 engine

For Sale or Trade: 2008 S65 blown engine. Open to offers and trade ideas.

NEW PRICE: $750

There is a hole in the top of the motor (see pictures) and another larger hole in the pan.

I had strongly considered making a coffee table or other piece of art out of this, but it just isn't happening, so time to move on to the next project.

Willing to ship at buyers expense - the engine is already crated and ready to go.

What happened to it? Blown bearing? Are you the original owner? Potentially interested.

I am the second owner of this motor which expired with approximately 69,000 miles on it. I experienced a fuel injector failure which resulted in hydrolocking the engine and throwing parts out the top and bottom of the block. The block is beyond repair and could not be submitted back to BMW as a core (which cost me an extra $1000).

The engine is complete save for the throttle bodies and throttle actuators plus the expendable like belts, hoses and plugs .

This would make a great engine to learn to tear down, use as a mock up, build out as art (which it most certainly is!) or salvage parts from (like the intake plenum, heads potentially, flywheel, oil filter housing, or maybe the pumps) .

It's tough to put a cash value on it, but somewhere in the low 4 digits.

E92_blue made a fair offer for his rear wing, I'm just not seeing it as a good fit for me.

I really don't know. I have not opened the motor up - other than the windows in the top and bottom - to see the extent of the damage.

well, if you end up parting it out, please let me know. i think it would be fun to try and polish some of the intake ports and see what happens. same with the throttle bodies...
