Anyone still on the original battery?

The production date on my car is October 2012, so 10+ years on the original battery and still going strong. No battery tender either. I was just curious if others experienced similar lifespans, or I got lucky with this one.

Yeah, I’m right there with you.

Has a 94% rate of charge at all times under load test for the past 6 years and has only fluctuated by ~1% per every 2 years.

Never battery tendered and just kind of wondering if it’s a perpetual machine or some sort of sorcery hah.

How many miles do you have? I wonder how much that's a factor. I only have 39k, so not like it's a ton of highway driving is keeping the charge up.

I just hit 60K a month ago. I’ve put about 40 on the car give or take since 2017.

Also on the original battery on my 2011. No issues with cold starts or having been parked for extended periods of time. But battery test does show it's not meeting the original CCA rating.

How do you know it's the original battery and not an identical Dealer OEM replacement? If not then yeah you got lucky..

I was until last year. Replaced mine with an equivalent Energizer one from Costco and coded it to the car just fine.

Did Costco do the coding, or you took it somewhere else for that?

Would you guys consider a 10 year old battery as a negative mark against a car that was for sale? I'm planning on putting it up soon and want to get it sorted. It still starts fine without hesitation and there's no warning lights, but I was thinking about replacing it just based off the age.

A battery is obviously no money vs the car so nobody would be bothered. Btw replaced mine twice, 2011 year model.

Yeah I know. Just wondering if other people would consider that a 'known flaw" and list it accordingly. I was going to mention it either way.

Recently bought a 2009 with 16k miles, I think it still had the original battery because after parking it for a few days I would get the increased battery discharge warning with the yellow car on the lift. Swapped it for an OEM BMW, coded it in and it's been perfect since. My original battery doesn't have a production date sticker like the new one either.

my 2011 at 145k still on the OEM battery, connect it to a NOCO battery tender now and then. Honestly, I'm surprised it still is going just fine.

Wife's 2011 e70 X5 35d got the low battery warning last month and had slower starts when it would use the glowplugs on colder mornings. Got a Costco replacement and coded it it in, well as best as it would let me, only choices in the ecu is 90Ah and 100Ah, battery is a 95Ah. Her mileage was 76k.
