Anyone else have the Contisport 3? Do these things suck or what? My DSC is kicking in ALL the time even on just slightly aggressive cornering.

Has anyone switched to Pilot Super Sport in stock sizes? Does it make big difference or does the M3 just need wider tires?

My ZCP M3 had the Contis as well. The PS2s as well as the PSSs will make a big difference. I remember when MT tested the ZCP vs. the 2011 Mustang 5.0 they mentioned the car didn't seem to have the same level of grip as the previous car they sampled when that car had the Michelins. I think my Invos are a better tire than the Contis that came on the car. Although going to a wider tire will help.

I have never driven with the Contisport3 but I have been running Continental ContiSportContact 5P, 255F/285R on my ZCP wheels and can say that they are much better than the PS2s. The dropoff for the PS2 is like a cliff, once they over heat, they get extremely greasy and unpredictable or should I say predictably unpredictable so I'm having to constantly be prepared to react to them giving out on me which is really fun but not particularly fast. I've heard good things about the PSSs and they are still cheaper than the PS2s on Tirerack for some reason. I might give them a shot next time just for the hell of it but I love the Contisport5ps at the moment.

I love the PS2s - best all-around tire I've ever used. I always run mdm though when actually "driving" - DSC doesn't really kick in unless I want it to, or unless I make a mistake. : )

PSS sounds like a great new tire; and cheaper than PS2s.

I have never been on a track however my experience has been nothing short of fantastic. I drive extremely aggressively (at times ) and I find them very predictable on the street.

Worst OEM tires ever, ditch them asap! The PS2 and PSS are much better and even better than that are wide tires on 18's!

Trying to decide between just replacing the Conti's in stock size or wait for the Apex EC7 wheel to go into production (best looking 18" wheel IMO) and get some 265/35 and 285/35 Michelin PSS. Main issue is that I just love my ZCP wheels.

The first minute you drive your car with that 18" setup you will forget what a ZCP wheel even is!

I did 4 track events on contisportcontact3, they do suck, but I figured I might as well destroy them before moving to something better. I have 6000 miles in addition to 4 track days and they are trashed. They used to grip a lot better than they were less worn out, but now I slide and MDM kick in under slightly aggresive acceleration coming out of the corner. Also my contis worn more in the middle than sides, although sidewall is all destroyed from track use.

I am switching to RS3 next week hopefully, I cant wait.

Its known that the conti3 is one of the lower performing tires..

Go with PSS..if you want to sacrifice treadwear for more grip - ADV08

CS3 suck but they're good for a daily cruiser

but they have nothing to hold compared to RS3s

AD08 and PSS are a great upgrade if you don't track (since RS3s in 19s are stupid expensive)

tread wear rating on ad08s is 180 but cant compare to other manufacturers numbers. they actually last a lot of miles both track and street.

Relative to PSS the treadwear on ADV-08s is much greater..and with PSS you get a 30K mile limited warranty..which is very rare for ultra high performance sport tires

haha, no kidding. one particular vendor let me down... But I should have my wheels this week, I went pressed graphite, screw custom color - the wait was endless and if I mess up my custom wheel on the track it will be another year of waiting from Volk or powder coating.. in short, i am moved on. Pressed graphite is cool looking any way

I never understood how tire warranties worked.. (except for the ones you paid for yourself before buying them, like through TR or BMW when you get the car)

Everything explained here Owners Manual_Post_Promise_Plan.pdf pages 3-7..you complete the registration card and send to Michelin when you purchase the tires..AFAIK Michelin is the only company with a ultra high performance tire that is backed by mileage warranty

Mileage warranty is the tire maker saying that the tire will get x number of miles. If you wear a set out completely (down to 2/32" of tread on all 4 tires) with even wear, they will reimburse you for whatever miles you didn't get. So if you got only 1/2 the advertised miles, you get 50% credit back to you.

They almost never pay out, because people either don't rotate, don't have their alignment done, don't keep proper air pressure, or don't want to run them all the way down to the bitter end since they often get noisy and have bad traction when they're that low.

For the M3, since you can't rotate, the mileage warranties are basically worthless, EXCEPT that Michelin now offers 1/2 mileage warranty for rear tires on RWD staggered setups. So the 30K warranty on the PSS really means 30K miles front and 15K rear. Which makes sense, because it's pretty normal for these cars to go through 2 sets of rears for one set of fronts.

I never knew about it in that much detail. I'm surprised they offer it as I didn't think it's possible to get 30k mi out of a set of high performance tires...
