Stage 1 = spun rod bearings.
Stage 2 = spun main bearings.

Just enjoy her man - she will crawl so deep under you skin that you wont accept any other. Had mine since 2009 and wouldnt trade her for anything. the lack of torque is there but isnt an issue when you really want to push it hard. Congrats on the new machine!

I keep my DCT in manual mode with engine never below 3k rpm and ready to down-shift as required. If you are putting around at 1500 rpm and up-shifting at 4500 you will be unimpressed. At the same time I don't think you have to 'Stage 2 It' at 8500 every shift to have fun with your car.

The main issue Ive seen with a stage 2 car (catless) ... is getting it to pass emissions.
Everything I've read suggests that the cats will never show as "ready" even with a tune from most all tuners... Evolve seems to be the only tuner that sets cats as ready from what I have read. Can you guys confirm that my assumptions above are correct? A couple of the Ms I have been looking at buying are catless (one with BPM tune) and it appears from what Ive read, getting them to pass emissions in GA is a no go... |

I failed in California for a computer not ready with a turner shark tune and HFC's. I then went back to 240e drove for about 50 miles and left anti-foulers on the rear o2 sensors and it passed. The smog guy was a young kid though who was suppose to fail it based on visual. They don't f around in California... it's so annoying.

You can have one sensor not ready in GA and pass. Carly lets you check before you go get emissions so you know what you have before you go. they do inspect for cats so if stage 2 to you means no cats, you wont pass without them. HFC are hit or miss depending on the # of cells and your tune.

He doesn't say "engine" problems, he says "long term problems". I'll argue smogging a "stage 2" car can be a long term problem especially if you don't have the ability to re-tune and switch back to a factory x-pipe at home. It'll cost $ as well as time to do that every two years..
