My guess is they don't believe there is a rod bearing issue so they don't want to take the risk on it, ie. they'll be on the hook if anything happens to the motor after they worked on it.

Depends if you supply the parts or not but the job is 11 to 12 hours @ 100 CAD/HR so approx 1200.00CAD+Tax for labour

$100/hr is pretty cheap. It's a pretty simple job if you get someone who is a decent technician especially with the DIY's out there. We did my rod bearings in 6 hours.

RG did confirm they've done 3 other E9X M3s in the past.

The person who did mine was his second RB job. His first one was done in 8 hrs including clean up afterwards. He's a licensed technician at a dealership here (not BMW) and he says it's pretty straight forward. We also did my engine mounts, air filter and transmission fluid at the same time. If you can get someone to do it at $100/hr, I would say that's a good deal. |

I didn't think they looked too bad but they did have abnormal wear. I knew I would get my rod bearings changed right when I got the car for my own piece of mind and because I knew someone who would do it for me. Have a look at my old bearings. |
