What's the criteria? Can it be 2 seats?
My E92 is my forever car, but in your case, M2C would be nice too. M2CS is coming out soon, so it'll be interesting how much that costs. I would also consider looking into Z4M's. Well within your budget and the driving experience is one of the best for a BMW in my opinion

Oh man. You guys are lucky down there. Can’t get decent 911 in Canada for near that price 😔. 991.1 S would be awesome.
Test drove f80 m3 think in 2016 . Didn’t really feel it. But it was only 10 min drive so prob should go drive once again to make sure haha. Def looking into 2 seaters also. Got civic for baby and work duty. |

I'm very surprised how much I love this car, almost saw level as my E92 M3. It's a much more special occasion to drive the car because of the long hood and ability to drop the top. M Coupes cost about $10k more. M2C would be cool for new car experience.

I can't help with "forever car" since that criteria is different for everyone. Personally, I don't buy the same car twice and other than my earlier years when I was obsessed with VW, I avoid the same brand as well.
Not completely sure of costs (particularly used), but I'd start with a list of the following: --M2 comp --M4 comp --Lotus Evora (saw a 400 this weekend and wouldn't mind trying one of these out) --C7 corvette grand sport --Porsche cayman (S or higher) --Porsche 911 (carrera S or higher) --Alfa 4C --Nissan GTR (though I'm not sure what you get for $65k with this) |

Way more cars are faster (Z06s and ZL1 Camaros will blow it away), and many will hold the road more tenaciously (hec, the new Civic Type R is above 1.0 g's now too!), but having driven all of those...compared to just RIDING in the GT3, give me the GT3....if you want a car built to make the hairs on your arms tingle with excitement. It's nirvana for car enthusiasts. And ironically, those earlier 911 GT3 are built stout, thus are fairly reliable...but of course all parts are expensive to replace when something needs fixin'. I've always liked the 997.1 GT3 cars, but feel the maintenance costs will be through the roof. Sincerely, Man that has done zero research. |

Forever car, you will never sell it..?
Save a bit more money, buy a 997 GT3 or Cayman GT4. Alternatively as others have mentioned, a nicely specced 991.1 C2S. Sorry but an M2 just doesn't compare in this price bracket. |

That is true. The OP is not looking for a car to drive every day. He has a Civic for that. He can get something that is uncomfortable, unreliable and unpractical but a lot of fun for a couple of hours if it is running.

All I have been doin is looking for used 911s cuz of u guys haha. Watched the top gear epsiode where Jeremy drives that blue 997 turbo. 😍.
How much u guys lookin at gt4s down there. Here a avg gt4 is like 110. Cheapest gt3 I found in Canada on autotrader was 2004 gt3. 99k But if I wait could possibly get 991.1 Cs or maybe get lucky and find 997 turbo. Agree with Kevin gs. I had a chance to go for a ride in a 997 gt3 couple years ago. And it is the coolest experience I had sitting passenger of any car I’ve been in. Fire extinguisher and all I don’t track. So gt3 prob not worth it for me. And I’m big guy with broad shoulders and don’t really fit that well in overly sporty seats 🤕 |

So I just realized your location.
$65k CAD is like sub $50k USD. A LOT different cars. |

$65k CDN, that was roughly similar budget for weekend car.
I wanted to stick with BMW or Porsche (I had macan and I had good time with it) Cars I considered (lightly used vehicle) 981 cayman s F80 M3 OG M2 M2C was out of list because it exceeds budget. In the end, I chose 18 LCI M2, mainly because 1. the price was bargain because M2C came out and M2C.....S? 2. the size is perfect to drive and enjoy 3. lots of factory warranty 4. nimble, great cornering and the engine is so reliable as we all know. I love driving this thing, whenever I take out the e92 M3, it feels like a boat now. |

If my car was ever totalled I think I would just have to sleep around a while and see who I want to remarry.
DOn't try to find the magic again with the first one you buy or you'll end up feeling like you've failed if it doesn't work out (and you'll be pleasantly surprised if it does) I can't think of anything on sale today I'd want as a forever-car, but there's lots of cool stuff to try.

With the advent of services like Turo, I've toyed with getting something cheap for my DD and then renting something nice for weekend trips when I want to get away. Here in San Diego, there are a ton of nice road cars (C7 'vettes, Boxsters, an F-Type, etc.). That way you never get bored and can try something different depending on what you need for that particular weekend.
