I sent them messages also about the AUX and even specifically asked them if the AUX cable was necessary prior to buying and they said "NO.". After install I emailed them about my AUX problem. They replied I need to use the AUX cable. Pretty shady if you ask me. I think there is a work around but its taking time. I wonder what's happening with the power drain issue. Maybe you can go on their website and post a question about it.

They finally got back, they sent me updates for the OS and MCU.

After the updates, I left the car for 1 hour and tested the draw again, and it was where it needed to be at 0.03 amps. it was 4.1 amps before.

Will need to use it some more and retest after a few on/off cycles to make sure it is going to sleep as it should.

Since there are many options / configurations across the e9x platform, it is kind of expected.

With the proper coding I'm sure you could get it to work, since other non-m3 cars did come with that option.

I contacted Andream and they are sending a new harness. I may have a bad wire.

Were you ever able to get the aux coded out using BimmerCode?

Negative. Ended up with a cic upgrade and Mr12volt. Only way for my ccc nav to work with this is a hardwired AUX plug into center console.

Ah I see, I guess I'll be doing the same. Thanks!

Appreciate this is an old thread, but I am looking for recommendations.

I went this route in my E90 2010 CIC

I purchased an ALIEXPRESS version and although it works great, and even uses bluetooth for Android Auto the screen is terrible.

Like this thread, it has a glare and putting on an anti glare cover, made it worse

I can live wit the glare, but the main other issue, is the screen itself, in daylight, is so dim. I can hardly see the screen. its great at night

I have the brightness on the setting at MAX. When back in CIC mode, I can hardly see the text on the OEM. if i were to switch on my lights, in day time, it almost goes invisible as it dim's even more

so, I want to keep the functions, as I love Android Auto, and i installed a backup Cam, but want to ditch this screen and go for another version

so I am looking for recommendations for a screen that us usable in daylight?

Just stumbled on this thread. I recetly installed the Andream unit into an 2008 M3 w CCC. Mainly using Apple Carplay. I orig ran the aux cable but then realized that it works fine without it. I did select AUX within the setup screen. So I disconnected the Aux cable and the sound still flows from carplay to the factory speakers without the aux cable.

Yes, the glare is pretty bad. I guess I'll try ths from Avin... https://avinusa.com/8-8-anti-glare-t...6-e67-e68.html

Interesting about forcing the factory Mic. I may need to try that. Have been told that I sound quiet.

Lastly the iDrive controller works great to control carplay, etc.

Hi, I'm about to install one of these on my e91 with CCC. Did you have to do any coding to make it work without the aux cable?

No coding needed. You need to 'set' the AUX setting (input?) within the original car options. Specifically hold the menu button down (near idrive controller) to toggle back to the 'orig car interface'. navigate to entertainment, then I see various inputs AM/FM / CD, AUX etc (I'm writing this from memory). Select the aux, then select SET. For me that activates it. No aux cable needed. once or twice the system seemed to toggle in/out (like maybe when I had unplugged everyting to apply the anti glare screen protector). I got not sound. I simply went back in and hit Aux > SET again and carplay sound came right back on.

Some other things I wish I knew in advance...

Helluva time fitting the orig radio back in. I eventually cut away some of the inside plastic mount. I then had to tie a string around the block connector and tuck that into the driver foot well so I could pull the block out of the way when reinstalling. Then cut/tucked the string back up.

There is a setting to control the size of the image when displaying the 'original car interface'.

There is a setting to make the iDrive controller work properly. Initially it worked a little bit. There is some iDriver Aor B setting to make it perfect. (password to get into settings is 1368)

Microphone sound. Some people complained about microphone being too quiet. When on a call I see the bluetooth audio selector on my iphone and am able to sellect carplay or original BMW. Sounds better when I select BMW microphone and it seems to remember that for next time (yet carplay still works great (mostly bluetooth only for me, don't bother plugging in the USB unless I need a charge)

I did the $25 camera option as well... Camera install was easy enough. Make sure you get the instructions from andream. I have no idea why they don't send them in advance. There are some critical differences on the hookup for automatic vs manual.

The M button will kick you out of carplay back into orig car interface. then I hold menu button down to toggle back. Not too much of an issue for me but I guess could be annoying if you were one to flip the M settings on/off frequently during your drive.

Basically every question / issue I had, Andream replied over night with a solution (except for the M button thing - they told me to check the . So things are working great, just annoying that they didn't give me all the instructions ahead of time lol. Would have saved us both so much time.

Has anyone had any issues when changing the OEM Idrive screen resolution from the apple carplay head unit? I bought mine from Aliexpress (Roadtop store) and when I changed the resolution in the factory settings, I randomly got a SES/CEL.

There is a fix for the M button bug:

Dang, don't they have the Wifi Android Auto yet? Audio from the Aux cable is garbage you don't want to do that to your sound. Wifi is full quality like USB.
