Did you weigh them? No way the replicas weigh 16 pounds for those sizes LOL

I wish I had a photo of the scale from the shop. Front wheel weighed in at 41.3lbs; didn’t weigh the back. According to google, brand new Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2s 255/35/19 weight about 25lbs, so if we do the math, it comes out to about 16.3 lbs for the rim give, or take some uncertainty.
Factory should be 16.5 per BBS, seems about right for the rep wheel. If the wheel is as unsafe to drive on as everyone is mentioning, might be worth looking for another wheel set. However, aside from the brand being a replica from BBS, I do genuinely believe that these might actually be of some quality. Hopefully it’s not as big of a deal as we’d assume. Appreciate everyone’s insight on sizing and looking out for reps on this thread*** |

I don’t think anyone knows if the replicas are unsafe. As far as I know, no one proved they are unsafe.
By all means, please drive the replicas on the track, jump the curbs and let us know. I am not being fasticious, I think this would be the only way to know. And if you do your best time, we can attribute it to the holes in the FI-R replica spokes and not to your skill. Haha |

Seems like the definition of unsafe -- i.e., of unknown quality, ergo risky = unsafe. Maybe they end up not being harmful, but unbranded/properly labeled replicas I would call unsafe in this context.

A 16lb wheel better be fucking strong. There’s a reason those wheels are like $2k each (yes some of that margin is BBS branding), but there’s definitely some capable engineering and manufacturing tolerance. OP, no one is dogging you about authenticity. I couldn’t care less about the street credibility, but safety on track is a priority.
