Recently Moved to Texas

Hi All.
Am a military guy recently re-assigned to Texas for the next few years and decided to bring my M3 along for the trip along with the rest of the family. LOL Was active in the NE M3 forums and met quite a few fellow enthusiasts and owners there and was wondering as to what the SW M3 owners did and were like. Am stationed in San Antonion and wondered where do guy recommend taking the car for service, tuning, upgrades/mods and the like. I think I really may need a clear bra sometime soon but can't afford to ship the car to Cali and have some of those guys do it...but would be interest in advice and tips from fellow Texas M3 owners.

Also just wanted to also say hello to all here in Texas as well. Lovely state but HOT and big!

Welcome to Texas!!

Sorry I cannot help you with San Antonio, but if you are ever up in the Big D (Dallas area), let us know. There are quite a bit of car enthusiasts up here.

As for clear bra, I know a guy here in Dallas that does amazing work. He's done three of my cars and I'm confident that he compares to the best of the guys in Cali. This guy is so interested in his job that he actually spends his own money to buy samples of film to see which one can reject permanent marker the best! Very good attention to detail.

Okay...have relatives in Dallas or outside of it so may be in the area from time to time. May be interested in seeing some of your guys work. Have at least 2 cars here that would need a clear bra at some time.

The guy I recommend is Norm Schilling. He did a full front wrap and the side sills on my car. You can see his work here: http://www.dfwautoclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5121. His website with contact info is: http://www.invisibra.net/. Norm has done a number of cars for some very fussy people on the DFW AC website. The link shows him doing a full front wrap plus extras on a new GT3 RS. Look at the FAQ's on Norm's website. You won't be disappointed with his work.

There's another guy, Trey at http://www.speedshieldusa.com/ that Buschy and others recommend.

Stuart's is also supposed to do a good job: http://www.stuartspnb.com/

There's some more info and opinion in these threads: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326458, http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=338429

I just figured out how far south Mission really is. There should be some people in Houston that are capable clear bra installers. Hopefully, some of the Houston guys will chime in. DFW would be a heck of a hike for you.

For Houston vendors you might want to PM "Frankzlin79" as i know his car is clear bra'd.

Other than that the main place i can think of in Houston is "Collision Plus" (2 locations here in Houston) they just did a fantastic job on a paintless ding repair on my car and Sam and his brother are very straight with you and are both huge ///M fans.

While i had my car there they told me i should clear bra it and showed me a porsche 911 tt they had just cb'd that looked great.

Either way good luck finding a place!

Welcome to Texas! For clear bra work, I would highly recommend Norm! After seeing his work on cars on DFWAC, he is the only one that I would use!

Norm Schilling is fantastic and has done my X5 and my wife's Z4 - ridiculous attention to detail and respect for your car. He took the entire day for each car and made sure it was perfect.

I got mine done by Sunny Shyrock at Xpert Tint and Alarm on 59 N and W. Belfort, but that's located in Houston, TX. Sunny clearbras the cars for Ferrari of Houston. So any time somebody buys a new Ferrari, the sales rep drives it to Xpert to get clear bra.

Sunny put on SolarGuard's Clearshield film on my AW M3 and it hasn't peeled or turned colors on me. It's been on my car for about 7 months.

Yes VA has more state police per mile I think than any state I've seen recently other than maybe NC. However I still would have taken my M3 if I were you. Why should you suffer cause of them! LOL
