I had seen those rates posted for the non-EDC PSS10 kit, but with folks raving about the ride quality ("my family thought I had gone back to stock" and similar comments) I assumed the EDC version must be softer. 500 lb/in on the front will give a ride frequency a bit over 2Hz - tolerable on the street yes but definitely not something you'd mistake for the stock 1.3Hz-ish ride frequency. Of course the effective ride stiffness will be determined by differential rate at the static ride height.

the Vorschlag link was a good read too, thanks for that.

Guys, quite sad to relay this news but I just found out that the ship date on my Bilstein Damptronics kit just changed to mid-July. I know many folks were ordering these and also looking forward to my review, I'm sorry to dissapoint. I'm asking if Bilstein might offer me their Clubsport kit at a discount given the hiccup here, will report back on where I end up.

I'm also curious, what other kits are folks considering for street/track use?

It's SO hard to judge things based on people's comments. Drone, NHV seem to be people-specific

What a bummer. What is happening with Bilstein is truly unprecedented.

I ordered two B12 kits, non EDC, for M3s. I have an ETA of June from BW, we'll see.

My understanding is that the Clubsports are just as backed up. It's the only kit that I'd consider for less than the MCS setup, but I can't find anyone that commits to sell it to me. Please let me know if you do.

Just as I feared... they seem to be on an indefinite backorder. Sigh.

It isn't specific SKUs. All Bilstein is backed up a few months.

The two B12 orders I have placed are tentative for June.

As you see from Mobbin's experience, anyone saying they can get them 'soon' but that don't have them in hand are basically lying

I went with Ohlins R&T and its been great. I have tracked it and canyon with it weekly and the damping is great, the car does not move around as much and the dampers do great on the rough bits. On the track they are great, you can go with a stiffer spring but it will make it too uncomfortable for street driving. Overall, I think the Ohlins does a great job of dual duty and definitely one of the best on canyon roads since stiffer springs don't help.

I considered the Clubsports, but this unknown lead time sealed the deal on MCS, they arrive tomorrow after about a 3 week lead time plus a week of ground shipping.

dang it, after a month of combing threads and waffling on replacement options for my worn out 90k mile original shocks I had just about concluded the B16 was my top choice. Looks like I'll get to enjoy more months of indecision while Bilstein slowly catches up on backorders

Maybe this will be a good excuse for me to stop messing with the car and just get out to the track and drive. Even a stock M3 on worn out shocks is a hoot to ride hard

^Good to know they hold their value quite well even with 30k miles on them. Still love mine, such a great setup IMO.

Some lucky person got a set for $1600 used recently and it had 15k miles on it...

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1487600

I've been looking hard at getting a set myself and the best price I've been offered is $2850 shipped. PM me if you want to know who that is.

I actually got them for $1500 shipped. Felt pretty lucky then, feel even luckier after I installed them.

Edit: correction, went back and looked paid $1500 not $1400

Happy to share my limited experience.

Install was incredibly easy and straight forward. All EDC connections fit as stock, there were included extensions but I did not see the need to use them.

First drive, just took it out for a casual cruise, nothing wild. Comfort mode feels similar to stock, possibly even a little softer. Sport mode is a nice step up from stock sport mode and my mode of choice for just rolling around. Sport+ is in my opinion a solid setup for track/autox. A little soft, but with additional suspension upgrades (sway bars, bushing, etc) a superb confidence inspiring setup.

I have done some harder driving and my opinion stays the same. Definitely a good, maybe perfect balance for a DD/ocassional track duty M///.

Happy to elaborate if anyone wants more info.

Cheers,
Nate

I installed with new OE front and rear mounts, but will most likely use front adjustable camber mounts in the near future.

Nice. I like stock tops for public roads, don’t need the adjustability or expense of anything more. Dinan plates/mounts would probably pair nicely.

Exclamation

Does anyone run 295/30-19 or anything wider? How are they, do they rub, did you have to roll out your fender?
