Wanted to ask you because any day now receiving in the mail a Single Hump Dash to replace my double.

Did you go with a oil dip stick? If so which company? Going to go with that and a baffling system.
For the single hump, anything I should be aware of, settings and what not on that Idrive Screen once removed…any coding?

Thank you sir
hey nick,
i didn't do anything for a dip stick. if you cycle through the digital dash options by pressing the button on the tip of the left stalk, you can see the digital dipstick on the little orange screen between the tach/speedo. i haven't done any coding yet. i have to do more research on this, but i believe you can configure mdm via the stalks and speedo menu.
i have a few dash warnings; airbags, edc, reverse sensors, and washer fluid.

i've been short on time recently, but the side airbags will be coming out soon. i had a few minutes to spray and scrub the roof residue... its a huge pain in the ass.

and just ditch the center console... that thing weighs 9lbs.
Ahhh thanks man for the help!

Yea I've had my dash lit up like Times Square for years annoying but hey.
I really had no idea that we with IDrive can check oil on our steering column like the non Idrive guys..interesting.

Well time to start getting my dash and nav unit out. Thanks again and I'm sure I'll ask something else ..so forgive me

sure no problem, never hesitate to ask, i love talking about this stuff.

you probably saw some of the speed holes i did and what material i removed. i took off the dash bar and removed unnecessary material. i also removed the passenger side dashboard and dremeled out the molded hardware. i also pried off the molded hvac ducting and drilled some holes. i drilled some holes in the leather parts of the dash that are covered by the trim between the a/c vents. i also deleted the passenger side cupholder.

here is a breakdown of weight saved-

-dash bar optomization- 1lb, 10oz.
-double hump to single hump with speed holes- 10lbs, 6oz. this weight figure includes 1lb, 3oz of ducting and insulation, and 4.9lbs for the passenger airbag.
-radio is 6lbs, 6oz.
-idrive screen is 1lb, 10oz.
-idrive controller 7oz
-passenger cupholder 8.8oz.

there was also a ton of thick insulation behind the dash (i couldn't get it all) that yielded 4lbs, 15oz. all together, this project yielded about 24lbs.

Thanks, it’s the 6.7 diesel. I considered the 7.3 and supercharging it… it comes out to about the same price, but I fear when towing in warmer temps it might fall short. Often times the cooling system isn’t ready to handle that power and sustained work.
I want to cruise with the a/c on, all loaded up without a care in the world.

Rare, a Supercab diesel platinum! Literally the truck I want to buy and in the color I want. I hear they like to be deleted Enjoy your new ride!

I have a 'dilemma' supercharge the 7.3 or delete the diesel? I don't need to tow anything more than my 5500k lb boat so either truck would work fine for my needs. I am leaning towards the SC'd 7.3 just because a big all blower on a big engine sounds fun and a bit more unique than a deleted diesel.

the "problem" with a supercharged 7.3, besides suspected cooling problems that might come up with towing, is i'd always have my foot in it. i had to be somewhat rational with this truck, even though its overkill for what i need.
i would have considered the raptor R if it was close to my price range, but its not even close. this diesel at least gets m3 gas mileage... i can't imagine the supercharged 7.3 getting more than 10mpg with mixed driving.

I love your build thread and your obsession with removing weight from the car. I have a question, in the future are you planning to install a roll cage or a half roll cage?

i had a tire blow my first time out since the build. i was only three laps in and still trying to find the rhythm. only got down to a 1:35. not even a pb. i did get some useful feedback from a professional. i'm hoping to be back in the spring.
