Is this tire good for another track day

Just swapped out my track tires and noticed the tread is very low on the edges. Still have between 3/32 and 4/32 in the middle. Think I can get another day or two? Next track is Buttonwillow so I am thinking about just bringing a new set and having the tire shop mount them if I cord my old ones. Here is a pic of the worst one

Use em until cord then swap. Probably only half day left or so. Depends how many days to get that result and how hard you force it into corners.

'sup man. which side is the outside? i haven't been to buttonwillow, so i'm not sure how much that track wears tires, but if this was for big willow, i'd probably put it passenger rear. at autoclub, i'd put it passenger front.

Left side is the inside. This is after 2 days at Buttonwillow, 1 day at ACS (with SpeedDistrict so really a double day) and 2 days at Chuckwalla (6 20 minute sessions per day).

My comment about Buttonwillow wasn't so much about the track itself but that they have a tire shop so if the tire cords, I can mount new ones and not miss much track time.

Between these and a set of used NT01's that came with my wheels, they'd probably get me through the weekend.

Did you flip them already? Why so much inner wear? Camber plates? Too much camber don't remember having inside issues on street tires

auto club is pretty brutal on the inner sides of tires. same deal with big willow... its the high speed sweepers. i'd bring extra tires. buttonwillow is a bit of a haul for you.

Yes, I have camber plates. 2.5 for the track. I do drive with 2.5 to and from the track with these tires (maybe average 350 miles round trip per weekend). I didn't think that would be a big deal since these are not R-comps. No, I have not flipped them. At this point, I'm not sure if it would buy me much. I have rotated them front to back once.

yea, flipping these isn't going to be worth it based on your wear pattern.

i have yet to rotate mid-day, but instead place tires for the day by wear according to the track i'm going to. i took all four nt01's to the cords evenly without flipping them on the wheels. i'm confident if they were flipped, i would have had the same result on the same day, just with more cost and wasted effort. of course, this is unique to each car setup, track variation, and driving style.

If you had a second set of wheels and tires I'd say these were nicely broken in and ready for a fast lap.

Commuting on them in the winter in California, the rainy season, no thanks.

Good point. If it rains, I'll probably just use my street wheels/tires (RE-11's).

RE11's are quite capable on the track. Not RE71s, but still, good track worthy tires.

Yup. That's what I ran on my staggered wheels (now my street wheels) before I switched to a 18x10 square setup. They were on back order so I decided to give the Maxxis Victra VR-1's a try. I got 6 track days and 6k miles from the RE-11's and still have quite a bit of tread left. Can't say as much for the VR-1s.
