Hopefully they dont. This is a car that should allow people to have it and be able to command premium prices. Just the fact that it's a 6MT in a market of dual clutch top end cars will allow it to be in high demand for purists.

Sorry for my ignorance but what are "LWBs"?

Light weight bucket seats. Porsche is having supply chain issues with them and are not taking current GT4 orders with the seats.

Then you should have no issues. Lots of guys have deferred their allocations because Porche told them that they couldn't build it with LWB's for their desired allocation month.

So expect to see a lot of 1st & 2nd wave GT4's initially with sofa seats.

Is Porsche still taking orders for the GT4 or has it been sold out?

Nobody knows for sure. They've never stated a concrete build number although 2500 units has been mentioned WW. Given their history, they may increase production but I don't expect it would impact much because demand was FAR beyond supply.

Get on a wait list if you want one. Nobody knows how many allocations there will be, but I don't think they've all been issued. It's pretty late in the game now, but it can't hurt. Porsche Premier dealers are probably a better bet, especially if they sell a lot of GT cars. I was #20 at my dealer and my build will be in November.

I will check my local P dealer and see if I can get on the wait list.

I inquire about a 991 GT3 or GT3RS but they said its all been spoken for.

If you really want one, do yourself a favor and call more than your local dealership. All dealerships aren't created equal and some dealers are getting more allocations than others.

Moreover, as is always the case, some on the list aren't turning out to be "real" buyers. Some got on the list hoping to make a profit. Some dropped off when the Spyder was announced because they really want a 'vert.

My SA is confident, and I think he's right, that there will be a 2017 run of the GT4 and that more allocations will open up.

I was told that I would get a GT4 at MSRP back on 2/4. My dealer had nothing other than his word for me until 5/28. Now I know I have a build in Nov. with an approx. delivery around Xmas. So I am pretty confident in his "word" that there will be more allocations.

Help me understand: If Porsche can get X number of people to put down a deposit for the GT4, why wouldn't Porsche just make X number of GT4s instead of X-n where n is the number of cars beyond the arbitrary production limit that Porsche set?

I appreciate the first-come, first-served mentality, but not the desire to keep supply so much lower than demand.

Who says the production limit is arbitrary? They have a lot of other cars to make, some of which are more profitable than the GT4, they're ramping up production of the GT3RS, and probably starting to retool for the 991 refresh. There's only so long a window that production can run and only so much capacity to produce cars within that window.

However, no official production limit has been announced in terms of units or time, so it's still possible that everyone with the desire and cash will be able to get a car. The GT3 launch went like this: scarce availability initially, but later everyone got one.

Why? No offense, but i don't agree at all

This is a drivers car, screw "exclusivity".

I'd rather have reasonably priced, accessible great drivers cars

I don't need an impossible to get track focused car to hard park at the local expensive restaurants on weekends.

Love the track focused part which is why I sold my 2013 M3 for it as I am a 10+ track days owner. However, people should be able to buy one. There are many deserving "purists" frustrated by the experience and without a car. I just happened to get lucky.

I find wolfinwolfs posts easier to read if I just imagine him as a sweaty Porsche PR intern that gets stuck working weekends to fill this forum with his nutswinging shitposts

I meant "arbitrary" as in relative to demand. But your point about production capacity is a good one. I guess I am anticipating that this will be a one-off, limited-production car like the 1M. There are already many parallels (6MT only; borrows suspension, brakes, and wheels from "big brother" GT3/M3; lighter than the "big brother"; etc.).

You say that no limit has been announced, but I thought Porsche announced there were only going to be around 2,500-3,500 of these in the world, with an open question as to whether they would offer more in the future.

The rumors have always been about 2500, but that's never been confirmed to my knowledge, and as you say there's always the possibility that they'll allocate more production slots to this car. But the bottom line is that so far, Porsche has not given a final unit count or production end date. Maybe even they aren't yet sure of those numbers.

in my opinion going from a V8 M3 to a cayman is a side-trade, not an upgrade (despite the big price).
I don't think a cayman is as desirable as a 911. Even buying a 911 isn't really cutting it for me, i'd still rather keep the V8 M3, only if it's a GT3 or PTurbo but no CS.
