Eisenman exhaust vs. Active Autowerke Exhaust
I just turned 18 and received my first e92 M3 and i cant decide which exhaust to put on. the eisenman exhaust or the Active Autowerke Exhaust. the price is relatively similar and now withy the new pipes the Eisenman is a bolt on just like the Active Autowerkes exhaust so it just comes down to which sounds nicer. which do i choose? and please tell my why.
the new very important question is which has less drone since that seems to be something that may be bothersome. i just ordered eisenmann race with connecting pipes from ilia hes a great guy, thanx everyone Last edited by Bennati; 02-17-2009 at 08:48 PM.. |

Both are great systems but do you want a loud exhaust or more mellow..... The AA is more on the quiet side. Depends on what you want

Both are great systems, in my opinion.
Active Autowerke has been in the business for many years, and has an enormous amount of experience in BMW forced induction. They manufacture quiet a few components for the E92 M3, and I'm a fan of their exhaust: Eisenmann has been in the business of designing exhaust systems since 1987, and their hand made exhaust systems are unparalleled in quality and exclusivity. The exhausts are German made, and very unique in the market. I don't think you can really go wrong with either one, which is why IND sells both.

Are you "receiving" the exhaust as well?

Receiving an M3 at 18 is a nice thing and nothing wrong with it. I'm assuming that your parents bought you your M3 and you should be thankful. I received a Corvette on my 18th birthday and till this day it's my most cherished gift that I maintain to the highest degree of care. I hope to pass it on to my own child some day.
Be careful Bennati, the M3 is a pretty wild beast if you don't respect it.

Never heard the Eisenmann in person.
I have the AA and I love it. You definitely can tell you have an exhaust on there. It's loud enough but not obnoxious. Very minimal drone and when you step on the fun pedal, it really screams at higher RPMs. Plus, it's cheaper and it's a bolt on. I can't imagine paying near 3K for just a muffler, although Eisenmann is coming out with a bolt on also, but I expect it to cost more.

Both are great systems you can't go wrong with.
I personally chose the AA because it's more quiet which is what I want since I will also be adding the AA X-pipe later. Eisenmann with X-Pipe would be too loud for my taste. Oh yeah .... I also like the Dyno of the AA since most exhausts are more about "sound" and not power. |

Just put an AA on my car and I really like the bass like sound to it, it seems quite a bit louder than OEM to me, but w/out going over the top. If you really want a loud exhaust there might be better ones out there, but I like to be at least somewhat subdued. Not much drone at all either just a slight touch at low RPM.

If it were me I'd go AA because they have dyno graphs behind their exhaust line and they got the noise canceling chamber which practically eliminates drone which is essential to me. AA with the X-Pipe(no cats) sounds better than the eisenmann IMO.

Out of the dozens shipped to members on the forum, we have had 1 serious complaint about drone and the member sold the exhaust. Many customers have said drone is not as pronounced as some seem to make it out to be and is easily inevitable. |
