We´re all speaking ahead of time I think!! None of us really know how much the stroker engine will cost, it is all speculation whether or not its going to cost $25K or whatever. We will have to see the final price, but, we know that:

1. Much of the R&D (as the stroker needs only to develop a crank and ECU really) has already been amortized over the M5/6 stroker engine.

2. All parts are identical to these developed for the V10 stroker with the exception of the crank.

3. There are two cylinders less.

4. They have to price within M3 market in order to maximize profits where the price elasticity IMO is very different.

Hence, probably not going to be anywhere close to $30K or $35K that it takes to get the stroker for the V10. Again, all speculation, but lets hope!!!

Plus 4 seats and really nice looking etc…
True enough, but I still don't like the idea of someone taking apart the M// engine and replacing parts. Yes, we get more power, but I bet it will become a 8mpg car and wind up blowing up or having issues. Its no longer an M// engine, its just a derivative of an M// engine. The smoothness and efficiency may go out the window with this mod as well. Just don't think I am crazy about this.........or maybe I am giving the guys at M// too much credit and Dinan not enough.....

I think your point is fair, however, I've moded so many car engines with "reputable" tuners and have never had any issues at all. First time I did it, I felt the same way, it was an AMG engine. I was all worried about warrenties etc... but no issues at all and I do push my cars very, very hard.

Talking

that would be THE most intense thing you could do, however does anyone (BMW-M-Mexico) know whether it would be possible to get a super/turbo charger on that stroker and/or chip.. Hence making it the destroyer of roads. (even though it might be overkill, but when has that ever hurt anyone?)

I think adding turbos to the stoker may not be so easy (or smart). It seems to me that at the very least, in such a high strung engine, in order to really increase boost, you would require low compression cylinders and probably major work on the injectors and intake manifold. Exhaust and intercoolers would also need to be entirely different from the stoker, so that I think you may be better off in just going pure stoker or pure twin turbos (the V8 lends itself well to twin turbos since you can install to smaller ones that spool up quicker closer to the exhaust). Mosselmann turbos seems to believe they can get to 600hp with turbos and around 520 with Supercharger.

Ha!!!!!!

Figure at least double-point-five installed.

Personally, i don't think a 3700 pound M3 is worth it. However, the next MZ4 will have the V8 also. My idea of fun is an eXX MZ4 coupe with a Dinan stroker. That would be worth the money. Yee Haw!!!!

I'm sure it will expensive as hell, but considering he just admitted all the technology carries over, there's not quite the same justification as when they need to recoupe R&D costs.
