you should get the coils for sure. Who cares what classing is right now, you'll appreciate the improvement in performance and can take the driving to the next level now.

what i would want to do would be too much money for me at the moment (three way, true rear coil, reinforced rear mounts). so should i compromise and go with a two way divorced setup and forego the karbonius intake? i'm torn. both options are going to enhance things i love about the car. the coilovers are going to be the obvious greater effect, but its going to bother me that i compromised...
on the other hand, i'm not going to be competitive with an intake that adds 10hp, no matter how good it sounds.
While it seems that the coilovers are the obvious choice, when you consider the points implications, it's not that cut and dried. For example, your E92 is 3 base points and you already have a BBK so you are now at 3.5 points. If you want to compete in B4, you have 2.5 points to spend. If you want to stay with NT01s, that's another 1.5 points. That leaves you with 1 point which is not enough points for coilovers so in that context, you might as well get the intake.

If you want to compete in B3, you'd have 7.5 points to spend. NT01 + Double Adjustables is 3.5. That leaves you with 4 points. If you want to be competitive in B3, you need to spend more points which means removing weight (maybe more money if you are going to replace your seats), adding aero (more money), or moving to faster tires (more money).

So it depends on what class you want to compete in.

As for your dream coilover setup, I don't think anything higher than divorced 2 ways is really practical for part timers like us. It's hard enough to setup 2 way coils, I can't image the time and effort needed to properly setup 3 ways.
I haven't looked yet, but I'm pretty sure I'd be in B2 with coils... probably still not competitive with my driving skills. Lol
What's your data acquisition system?
Me? Nothing yet.

I'd put that before intake personally.

My recommendation of order of mods is safety (includes brakes), suspension (since it helps with tire consumption), cooling, data, tires, coaching, hp/wt/aero.

Data is valuable, without a doubt. What sucks, is it's value is recognized at the track. The intake is a lot of things...
right now I'm leaning towards suspension, but I need to check on a few things first.

ok, going through some quick math with the 2019 bimmer challenge rules-

points - mods
3.0 - e92 base points
1.5 - 100 tread tires (nt01)
0.5 - exhaust mods
2.0 - two way coilovers
3.0 - any wing
1.0 - splitter
0.5 - brakes
2.0 - weight loss (tentative on actual weight of my car). my brakes, battery, absent rear seats, and the carbon driveshaft make up a solid 150lb weight loss. my car has manual (oem) seats, so i'm not sure where its going to fall.

thats 13.5 points unless i missed something, that puts me pretty solidly into B2 with room to grow. my car would be in b2 anyways this year, but thats hinging on my estimation of being under weight and taking the 2 point handicap.

I'm in b2 as well but with slicks. Dropped the aero. I think you can too.

think i can what? drop the aero? i don't care enough to go backwards for points. if anything, i have 2.5 points to spend.

they only new rule i don't care for is that you have to state which session your best lap is going to be in. we all know that things don't work out that way... traffic, etc..

I think you misread that. They are saying if you buy multiple run groups, you have to pick which run group will count before session 1 starts. So if you are in Red and Green groups, you have to decide which run group will count for your laps.

I think Yokohama A052 and RE71R are both 200+ TW and can be just as fast, if not faster than NT01 without the point penalty. I have never tested all 3 back to back to back so I don't know for certain.

Because those tires are not truly 200tw tires, they both carry 2 points. That said, he has room for more points so might as well run the faster tires.

Suspension for sure. I have true coilover and no reinforcement. Also ran true coilover on my e46 with no reinforcement for 20k miles and no issues. But I see no reason divorced would be any dis advantage.

The lower portion of the rear true coiler set up has a different size spacer where it offsets the shock in the control arm. They did this to avoid the spring rubbing on the axle boot.

Yeah it's timately up to you but Pirelli DH with no aero imo has more grip than aero plus one of the fast tires that carry points.

Here's my new front end!

My bumper feels like grip tape when I wash it. Hehe
It's amazing how pitted glass becomes as well... I just had my windshield replaced through insurance due to a crack. Even when it was clean, it was hard to see out of during dusk/dawn.
