Bimmerretrofit Camera- ISSUES!

I bought Bimmerretrofit's backup camera with dynamic lines and installed it the same day it arrived. A little over a week. To my surprise I had the audio cutting in and out and what seems to be the telephone microphone tuning on and off. I emailed them and now they want me to read some codes for them in order to figure out the problem. They also explained that it should have been installed by a BMW tech - on a self-coding and easy to install product!!

I explained that I'm pretty frustrated with the product as it was meant to be plug and play. I've installed a similar one on my e46 and didn't have any issues but because this requires coding I'm assuming it's their coding.
Anyways, when I asked to return the item they explained that's possible I need to look at the terms and conditions and consider a re-stocking fee.

I'm going to look into reading the DTC codes but this has become a bigger problem than i had asked for.


Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions set forth the standards, terms and conditions of use of the Products and Services (as defined below). By purchasing the Products and Services you agree to these standards, terms and conditions. BIMMER RETROFIT INC. (also referred to herein as “we”, “us”, “our”, “Company” and “BIMMER RETROFIT”) reserves the right, at any time and in our sole discretion, to modify, alter, or update the Terms and Conditions without prior notice. Modifications will become effective immediately upon being posted at the BIMMER RETROFIT ( web site. Except as provided in this paragraph, these Terms and Conditions may not be amended.

The term “Products and Services” as it is used in these Terms and Conditions includes, without limitation, our BIMMER RETROFIT website (, as amended from time to time, Products and Services advertised on the website and Products and Services offered by BIMMER RETROFIT for sale by email and/or certain forums. Your continued use of the Products and Services, constitutes your acknowledgement and acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, as amended from time to time. If you do not agree to these standards, terms and conditions, then you should immediately cease all usage of the Products and Services.

Shipping Information
BIMMER RETROFIT normally ships goods within 5-7 business days after the order is placed by customer and payment received by BIMMER RETROFIT. Products purchased during any particular sale, are typically shipped within 7-10 business days after the end of the sale. Shipping times may vary depending on the products ordered. BIMMER RETROFIT will only ship complete orders, once all the parts are in stock. In the event that your kit consists of out-of-stock products, BIMMER RETROFIT may require additional time to prepare your order and in these special cases BIMMER RETROFIT will notify the customer of any shipping delays associated with these orders. All shipping dates given are based on estimates provided by suppliers and/or production lead times. BIMMER RETROFIT cannot guarantee shipping dates, since delivery dates are subject to change. If you need to receive an order by a specific date, please contact BIMMER RETROFIT for assistance. If you want BIMMER RETROFIT to ship partial orders (i.e. before all parts are received by us), we can do it, but additional shipping charges will apply.

We do not ship to PO Box addresses.

We use TNT Express, TNT Economy Express or DHL Express to ship all domestic and international orders, unless a different service is requested by the customer at the time of placing the order, provided that the chosen shipping carrier is authorized to ship the goods ordered by the customer. A customer is required to provide a phone number for all orders shipped by TNT. For each shipment, a tracking # is provided to the customer within 24 hours after the order is shipped.

By default, all packages are shipped uninsured. You may purchase insurance from us for the full value of your parcel and freight shipment by sending us an email at and paying the indicated charge when the order is placed.

We may only ship to a verified billing address, associated with the credit card.

Payment Information
A payment to BIMMER RETROFIT can be made using a Bank Wire Transfer, EMT, Visa or Master Card. If the customer choses to make a payment using a credit card, the customer may be required to provide to BIMMER RETROFIT a proof of identity, and additional processing time may be required. If the proof of identity is not provided, BIMMER RETROFIT reserves the right to refuse to accept the order. A full payment is required up-front. BIMMER RETROFIT will only begin processing orders after the payment has been received and cleared. 3.5% processing fee will be added to all credit card payments.

Due to high amount of fraud, payment for electronic services (such as remote coding and FSC codes) can only be accepted by bank wire transfer, direct deposit, EMT or Western Union.

International Buyers – Please Note:
Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.

Order cancellation
If the customer cancels the order for any reason whatsoever after the payment has been received by BIMMER RETROFIT, BIMMER RETROFIT will withhold 20% of the order’s total as a restocking fee and will issue a store-credit for the remaining 80% of the order's total. BIMMER RETROFIT begins processing the order immediately after payment is received, and any order cancellations cause BIMMER RETROFIT to incur costs which cannot be absorbed by the Company. All products are custom-made and prepared for each specific customer according to his/her specifications. In addition, most products are VIN-specific, which means that those products can ONLY be used with the vehicle, for which they was ordered in the first place. As such, our products, as well as electronic services (such as diagnostics/coding/programming/flashing and similar) are not refundable.

Payment of the deposit to BIMMER RETROFIT constitutes a commitment from the customer to purchase Product(s) for which the deposit has been given. Deposit is non-refundable. If customer wishes to cancel the order after the deposit has been paid, but before the final payment has been paid, a credit for the amount of the deposit at BIMMER RETROFIT store will be issued.

Return Policy
All products are custom-made and prepared for each specific customer according to his/her specifications. In addition, most products are VIN-specific, which means that those products can ONLY be used with the vehicle, for which they was ordered in the first place. As such, our products, as well as electronic services (such as diagnostics/coding/programming/flashing and similar) are not refundable.

All head units, displays and iDrive controllers are sold by BIMMER RETROFIT as used equipment, not new. Used equipment may show signs of wear, minor scratches and dents which are considered normal. All used hardware purchased directly from BIMMER RETROFIT is covered by a limited 90 days warranty; all new hardware purchased directly from BIMMER RETROFIT is covered by a limited 1 year warranty..

All of the products that we ship to customers are properly inspected and tested before leaving our facilities. All of our products are guaranteed to work with the specified vehicles, if the vehicles are in their original working state and have not been tempered with. BIMMER RETROFIT, warrants to the original purchaser that all of our new products are free from material and workmanship defects when used under normal conditions for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase and all of our used products are free from material and workmanship defects when used under normal conditions for a period of ninety (90) days.
In those rare cases, when a product is not performing as it should, a claim should be placed with BIMMER RETROFIT (at and BIMMER RETROFIT will perform warranty services. Should the product contain defects in material or workmanship BIMMER RETROFIT will repair or replace the product, at our option, free of charge.
Purchaser will be responsible for all costs associated with packaging and shipping the product to BIMMER RETROFIT at the address indicated by one of our representatives, (including freight, insurance, duties, taxes, brokerage fees and other fees associated with the return of the product). 
BIMMER RETROFIT will bear the cost of domestic shipping (shipping the repaired or replaced product back to the purchaser located in Canada); if purchaser is located outside of Canada, purchaser will be responsible for all international shipping costs (shipping the repaired or replaced product back to the purchaser located outside of Canada).
Original product must be returned to BIMMER RETROFIT before a replacement will be sent to the customer. Product should be returned in its original package accompanied by a proof of purchase, either a sales receipt or other proof that the product is within the warranty period, as well as the RMA number, which can be obtained by email from one of our representatives (at The customer is also responsible for correctly labeling the package with "RETURN ITEM" on the box and in the paperwork.
This warranty is void if the owner repairs or modifies the product or the product has been damaged as a result of misuse and/or as a result of incorrect installation. BIMMER RETROFIT reserves the right to void warranty if installation has not been done by a professional installer and/or the product was damaged due to incorrect installation or misuse. This warranty excludes any liability other than that expressly stated previously, including but not limited to, any incidental or inconsequential damages.
If the product is not performing as it should, BIMMER RETROFIT may also perform remote diagnostics to help the customer identify the source of the problem. If it is identified that the source of the problem is not in BIMMER RETROFIT’s product, but in the customer’s vehicle, BIMMER RETROFIT may provide guidelines to the customer to help him/her resolve the issue, but cannot be held responsible for product’s malfunction, because the source of the problem lies outside of BIMMER RETROFIT’s product, and BIMMER RETROFIT cannot be charged for any fees that the customer may incur with any third parties while fixing the issue.

Any coding and/or programming services that are performed by a third party (not BIMMER RETROFIT) may cause BIMMER RETROFIT's warranty to be voided or may cause the customer to incur additional expenses to reverse the coding that has been done by BIMMER RETROFIT previously.

DOA (Dead On Arrival), faulty or missing parts
We package all items with great care to ensure the items can withstand long hours of transportation and arrive safely at your home. After you receive your package, please inspect all items immediately. In case of damage, take multiple pictures of the damaged product and box and file a claim directly with the shipping company, if insurance was purchased. If insurance was not purchased, any damage that may occur during shipping is buyer's responsibility. Any claims for faulty or missing parts must be made to BIMMER RETROFIT as soon as is practical after discovery (within 72 hours of delivery).

IMPORTANT: Please examine the goods prior to fitting. Once fitted, you will be deemed to have accepted any defects which should have been noticed with reasonable examination.

Products and liability
Our products are intended to work with BMWs 2004 and later models (more detailed information is given in the "Product" section of our Website). Prior to any installations, it is highly recommended that the vehicle’s software is updated to the latest version at the BMW dealer. If the software is not updated prior to installing BIMMER RETROFIT’s products, incompatibility issues may be discovered and products may not function as intended. If this happens, BIMMER RETROFIT will not be held responsible for any direct or indirect costs, incurred by the customer. It is responsibility of the customer to check with his/her BMW dealer whether his/her warranty will be voided following the installation of one of BIMMER RETROFIT’s Products, before any Product is purchased and installed. BIMMER RETROFIT will not be responsible for any direct or indirect costs incurred by the customer if the customer's warranty is voided.

Navigation system retrofits (CIC/NBT/NBT EVO): for major visits to the BMW dealer, such as ECU replacement, navigation system retrofit (CIC/NBT/NBT EVO) will need to be removed and replaced with the original head unit in order for the coding/programming work to be performed by the BMW dealer. If you are not sure about possibililty of software updates following a different retrofit, please inquire with us (

NBT retrofits in E-series: BIMMER RETROFIT has successfully tested NBT retrofit in E-series in E8x, E9x, E7x and E6x models of BMW (there may be some exclusions in the BMW models). For E6x vehicles there are some known limitations due to differences in functionality between NBT and MASK/CCC/CIC systems. Most of these and other limitations have been resolved by BIMMER RETROFIT, however some bugs/limitations are possible when installing NBT retrofit in E-series. BIMMER RETROFIT continuously releases free firmware updates for eNBT Retrofit Adapter to fix any known bugs. To fix some limitations, hardware changes to eNBT Retrofit Adapter may be required; at their election, customer may purchase new eNBT Retrofit Adapter to solve any limitations that cannot be solved with firmware updates for current version eNBT Retrofit Adapter.

Disclaimer of liability
BIMMER RETROFIT shall not be responsible for and disclaims all liability for any loss, liability, damage (whether direct, indirect or consequential), personal injury or expense of any nature whatsoever which may be suffered by you or any third party (including your company), as a result of or which may be attributable, directly or indirectly, to the purchase and/or use of our Products or Services. In particular, neither BIMMER RETROFIT nor any third party shall be liable in any way to you or to any other person, firm or corporation whatsoever for any loss, liability, damage (whether direct or consequential), personal injury or expense of any nature whatsoever arising from any delays, inaccuracies, errors in, or omission of any information presented or from any performance of our Products, or for any actions taken in reliance thereon or occasioned thereby.

Limitation of Liability
BIMMER RETROFIT WILL NOT be liable for any damages whatsoever, and in particular BIMMER RETROFIT will not be liable for any special, indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, or damages for lost profits, loss of revenue, or loss of use, arising out of or related to the use of the Products and Services, including without limitation this website or the information contained in it, whether such damages arise in contract, negligence, tort, under statute, in equity, at law, or otherwise, even if BIMMER RETROFIT has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

You agree to indemnify and hold BIMMER RETROFIT, its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, director, officers, agents and employees, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs, made by any third party due to or arising out of your use of the Products and Services, your violation of these Terms and Conditions, or infringement by you or other users of the BIMMER RETROFIT website service using your computer or otherwise accessing your account on this website, of any intellectual property right or any other right or claim of any person or entity.

Our web site may include links to other sites on the Internet that are owned and operated by online merchants and other third parties. You acknowledge that we are not responsible for the availability of, or the content located on or accessed through, any third-party site. No Waiver
No failure by BIMMER RETROFIT to enforce or exercise any provision of this Terms of Use Agreement will constitute a waiver of that provision, whether for past or future actions. Only a written waiver signed by an authorized representative of BIMMER RETROFIT will be a valid and enforceable waiver.

Installation, Installation instructions and Technical Support
Bimmer Retrofit provides installation instructions for most, but not all of its retrofit kits. If you are concerned about the installation procedure of the specific kit that you would like to order, please ask one of our representatives to see if an installation instruction is available. If installation instructions are available, they will be provided to you by email, upon request, after the order is placed. It is expected that installation will be carried out by a professional installer with sufficient experience in car stereo installations/similar projects/BMW vehicles/MOST and CAN bus, as well as with access to online and offline informational systems such as Reinhold ISTA D, etc. If your installer has any specific questions about the installation, BIMMER RETROFIT will be happy to provide assistance by email.
