Got my VIN last night!

I just found out about the VIN on BMW OC last night, so I went on and call the 1-800 number to get my order status. It said that the estimated completion date is Feb 12. Anyone knows how long before the car arrives stateside? Does March 8th seem possible? I am so excited!

Depends on where you are in the US. For West Coast delivery it is probably about 4-5 weeks after production is completed?

Great--it should be close to March 8. Figure 1 week for production, 1 week to get on a ship, 3 weeks to Port Hueneme, a few more days for PDC and trucking to your dealer.

Mine took 46 days from time day it was built. The trip was to the east coast, performance delivery in Greenville/Spartanburg. Including the trip to bremerhaven (7 days), over the ocean thru charleston (25 days), vpc (7 days), and finally pdc (7 days). The trip doesn't take that long, but the car's waiting at various ports (check out google earth, you can see them). It probably adds a few days to get to the left coast.

Wow, I'm surprised it took 25 days to sail across the ocean! Was it evading the German subs? Why would the German subs want to sink a ship carrying German goods?

LOL! Probably Japanese subs.

I assume that was with a stop in New Jersey--still, long time. My CA says 20 sailing days to California.

I think the "on the water" portion of the 20+ days was 13 to 15. The rest of the time was waiting to get loaded/unloaded, and of course the owner's circle web-site isn't very accurate. For my M3 I'll bug the $tealer for more realtime information, just to make the wait that much more painful.

I plan to invent a statis machine by then, and suspend my life functions during that trip so that I don't die of anticipation.

Called the hotline again today and found out the car is going through the bodyshop right now with the completion date of Feb 11, that's one day in advance comparing to the last update!
