Won't start
Hi guys
I bought a CPO '13 6MT coupe last July as my DD, it had been a blast. Absolutely no problem with it until this am when I try to start it to go to work it would not start. All the lights come on and it thinks it started but nothing's going on with the engine. Won't even crank. Then an exclamation mark comes on. I tried 3-4 more times and same thing. I had to get to work so I drove my other car, no time to check it with my OBD scanner yet. I'll do that this evening when I get back home. Hopefully it's just an old battery but I drive it at least 30 miles daily and not any signs of a weak battery prior to today? Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

When was the last time that you had started the car?

My original battery behaved similarly when it was 4.5 years old-- car would turn on and everything lit up, but no starter crank at all. This was immediately after disconnecting from a C-Tek charger, too. Battery had lost its ability to produce the large current necessary to turn over the engine. I suspect it had been over-discharged during storage by the previous owner, possibly multiple times. Most lead-acid batteries, including AGM batteries, do not appreciate being deep cycled.
You could try jump starting from another vehicle, and if that works then the battery or its cables in the trunk are likely the issue. Hopefully, you do not have a passive discharge problem which is draining the battery while parked. EDC modules are known to fail and cause this issue. |

OP: Most likely a battery issue. Always keep older batteries on a tender.

I needed to get to work so no time to get the OBD hooked up. Thanks for the suggestions I'll give it a go and post an update once I get home tonight.
