Megan racing is a generic maker of everything for every car..i wouldnt run their products..not that I am brand whore..I just think a company that doesnt specialize in one thing or one car is not going to have a high level of quality and fitment.

Bought my M3 used with a Megan axle back already on it, love the sound. quality is great, welds are perfect, No drone with stock x-pipe for me. I have researched other exhaust as all the Megan haters on here had me second guessing it, and i have yet to find anything that i would replace it with.

Also, I dont think an axle-back exhaust is really some engineering marvel or a safety concern which is why people are willing to go for the "cheap" brand. Not much that can really go wrong with an exhaust. Putting Megan coil-overs on a car? Thats a different story... |

I've owned SuperSprint, Eisenmann, Borla and now Megan for BMWs and the Borla and Megan were the only companies where the stuff didn't fall apart. My SuperSprint exhaust literally almost fell off the car in 2 years, the Eisenmann Race exhaust the brackets kept busting (this was on a E46 M3 not the E92). Spending $2k+ on a catback kit is ludicrous in my eyes. Hey its your money and this is a free enterprise system..knock yourself out. That being said the Megan exhaust is the best $525 I ever spent in the scheme of modding for the E92 M3. Dave

Three words, OEM Exhaust Mod by EAS. No rasp, nice M Perf. like sound, and best of all $400! If someone goes to the realm of $3k+, and it's only an axle back, get more for your money by getting a Valvetronic Exhaust.

even cheaper to go for a set of straight pipes and save your OEM muffler; it's much cheaper, sounds great w/ no drone and saves a ton of weight |

I have yet to see a positive thread + video on this method, people talk about it but there's no reviews or raves of someone doing it to their car - why is that?

the same reason why there's a thread on Megan Exhaust; cause most BMW owners are snobs and look down on this sort of thing; I'll post a vid of an older setup; hold on edit: it's been deleted from my phone; sorry; but trust me it sounds like every other ACM mod |

doesn't drone; I hate how everyone says that yet they are talking from what they hear cause I doubt you have done it.
I have done it; see the vid above, and yes it's loud, but the sound is behind the car; not intrusive. Anyone who thinks its drone doesn't know what drone is. That being said, surprisingly my Gintani Race drones like crazy while no mufflers at all don't. |

Ok, now do a video where you can prove no drone and that it sounds just as good. Also, no ghetto bouncing around of the pipes....hahaahah. A couple revs ain't going to cut it. But I applaud the effort. I stand 1/2 corrected on this one!

Yes, it's outsourced, and it costs $500. Nothing for this car costs $500. Could the quality be better? Of course, but not for $500. Yes, the Megan falls short in terms of quality in comparison to some aftermarket exhausts. I didn't purchase mine thinking that I was getting an Eisenmann or Akra equivalent. The better comparison is the Megan to the stock exhaust, which sucks. It's heavy, ugly, and basically inaudible from the driver's seat. It's not like you need a particularly compelling reason to replace it, or that you should be overly concerned about replacing it with something of potentially inferior quality. Other than it's apparent indestructibility, the stock exhaust has no appeal. The Megan is easily a $500 improvement over that appendage according to most everyone who runs it. Also no need to speculate on quality and fitment at this point. Dozens of members have run/are running the exhaust without issue.

I for one am just not a fan of central mufflers with all those bends. I truly believe a dual muffler setup to flow much better as there's less restriction from all the bends ala Dinan, Gintani, Supersprint, etc.

Seems reasonable, but probably more of a concern once you've gone catless? Still have the stock x-pipe -- so much restriction there that the axle back could be doing figure eights and it probably wouldn't matter.

^^ possibly, but it's best to always start at the rear anyways; upgrade muffler than work your way up . Theres not point in blowing through a straw that still necks down at the end ya know?
