Still No Dinan Coilovers?

Since February, these have "just about been ready to go." Anyone know what's up? Dinan continues to stall when asked.

Yeah this has been the longest tease.....my connects have no information at this time. I personally think the project is dead. Tech may be right.......if someone else is sourcing these why not buy them direct. I would bet the Dinan BBK and the wheels are selling slower than expected. As much of a Dinan fan as I am, I would opt to get the BBK directly from Brembo and the wheels from BBS. But if you are someone that wants to say I have a 20 point Dinan car I say go for it............Phil

As of this morning, my contact at Dinan who is "hands on" with this project in terms of test fitting, installing and road testing says they are still very much alive. Beyond that I have no info.

No, Schroth quick fit harnesses has been a much longer tease. And much worse IMO.

I contacted Dinan the middle of last month about the suspension, I was told my timing was impeccable as it was coming out in "days" and they would send me the pricing, I have followed up a few times with no response and even my local dealership who is a Dinan dealer inquired and was told it was going to ship end of June........

Has anyone actually confirmed that this will be a real coilover set up including shocks and springs or just a coilover conversion using OEM shocks??

The Dinan guy implied it was an adaptation of the OEM stuff, not a true coilover.

Budds told me that it would likely retain OEM struts, shocks. Sounds like a sleeve over to me.

Dinan avoided my question, but promised more details. I suggested a sleeve over and they didnt correct me.

I emailed Dinan asking about this kit, and they responded that it's in development, but they still have no release date.

I dont know if its worth waiting for...

If its just a sleeve kit, you guys might be better off going GC or TCK because you get quality camber plates and pick your spring rates while retaining EDC shocks.

Steve Dinan isn't interested in what you want for your car.

Spoke to Dinan again a week ago. Still not confirming the release date of this product. Refused to comment if real coilovers or some adaptation of the stock suspension. No specs on camber, spring rates or how it will compare to the full current Stage III suspension. No comment on prices. Unclear if this is a scam or a real product.

I'll be highly disappointed if this is a sleeve-over kit unless it somehow transforms the rear shock into a true spring on damper coilover.

Sleeve kits are pointless. The main point of a height adjustable suspension is to optimize corner weights. I think BMW did that from the factory. If you gutted the interior or added stuff, you may need to rebalance. I would also hope that you've upgraded the suspension by then.

Usually Dinan is one of the first to market with their products. The main advantage to Dinan is that you can bolt these parts on when the car is new and you have some warranty protection. Now that the E9X is at the end of its lifecycle, I will guess that Dinan is considering that.

I spoke to Dinan again last week. They insist the product is ready and will be on the website for sale within days. They have been saying that since last winter. It is also not a true coilover kit. It uses all of the stock components other than the springs. The main advantage is that it allows you to use EDC without any error codes. It is totally unclear if this product provides a more stable suspension than the current Dinan Stage III suspension kit. There is no pricing. There are no specs. The Dinan reps remain evasive at this late date which is an extremely poor marketing decision, as it erodes their credibility.

Sounds like a sleeve over kit. Meh.

I think Dinan is smart for not releasing any info. Then they would get flooded with calls and a billion questions on all of the different forums. After that, misinformation gets spread and then they are in damage control for a product that they've made no money on. Then if there's a delay people get all pissy. I've seen it happen too many times.
