Dirty Headlight Projector Lens

Decided to crack open my headlights for refurb and the lens were coated with this film. Anyone know what causes this?

What material did you use? Most likely resulted of the material outgasing and leave a film of residue on the lense.

The headlight was stock, I want to avoid what a caused it. The film was thick enough to impact brightness.

I bet a number of cars have this given the average car age on the road.

Most likely reflector coating. Check them for burned spots (and replace accordingly).

No burn spots but I’d like to buy new ones. Who sells the reflector?

I have been tuning with a clear zkw lens and the cutoff and intensity has improved.

It's been a while since I explored the subject, but back then the only reasonable option was to source Bosch AL reflectors from vendors in Europe. DO NOT get cheap Chinese plastic ones.

Also, while a sharp cutoff looks cool, there's a theory that it's not very good for human eye and a smother dark/bright transition is better for our vision.

I’ll check out the eu forums. I agree that diffused light is easier to see at night. I’ve always wanted to see what all the hype was about on cutoffs.
