Daily Drive in M Mode?
I've been messing with the driving settings since getting the car used and I've found that I prefer to daily drive with the "Power" button on and the DCT shifting turned all the way up. This is basically "M" mode I think so my question is rather than going in and pushing all the buttons to make this happen each time I get in to the car, is there a disadvantage to driving in "M Mode" all the time?
I'm not going to be street racing, I just prefer the crisp shifts, pedal response, and general connection to the car that comes with these settings. Thanks for the info! |

There is no disadvantage other than your average fuel economy and tire wear.
Drive it how you want to. I start the car in DCT all the way down boring mode to force myself to let the engine warm up.

No disadvantage other than fuel economy. Gas is cheap compared to the fun of driving with the cars settings at 100% - I hit the M button every time I drive after waiting for the car to fully warm up and keeping rpm below 3000 to avoid unnecessary engine wear.

Good point. When I did hit the button I've done it right at start up but kept it under 3k until warm. Yours is a good practice I'll adopt as a mental safe guard

Yep, I drive in M mode daily, DSC off, EDC on comfort, proper warmup no matter what the settings are.
The last 2 year MPG average has been pretty good, especially since it's with a supercharger. The MPG average did drop to 19.2 after the last track day though but its built back up now. |

Oh God I hit the M button before I back out of my garage. I think the crisper shifts puts less wesr on the clutches in the DCT. I go with 4 bars instead of 5 with MDM on and the throttle response (power) on the middle setting. Manual shifting to make sure revs stay low during warm up.

It's going to grenade tomorrow morning, be very careful it may spontaneously combust.

I'm usually in S2 most of the time and when I feel like having fun I apply power button and S6 via M button and rag it. I granny it until fun time pretty much.

It’s not a big deal. You could leave it permanently on the higher throttle movement setting and the stiffer steering setting. Use what is comfortable to you.

I do it. Easier to click one button with your thumb than looking down and clicking multiple buttons. I think the car drives better on power mode on.

Semi related: I don't know about you guys, but I'm finding myself using the power button less frequently. Once the novelty of sharper response wore off, I realized I kind of hate the fact that there's no noticeable difference between half and full throttle when set to sport+ mode. Having that range more spread out across the entire pedal travel makes fine adjustments to input around turns easier and aids in more accurate rev matching.
