335i turbo tuner vs 07 sti

hey guys gonna race my brothers sti in the coming weeks once he comes down to visit..

i have a 335i coupe with turbo tuner.

my brothers 07 sti has some kinds of catback i think and a cone type intake filter with a body kit /bbs rims and alot of glow in the dark gauges lol
what do you guys think... we gonna do something like a 40mph roll race.. and maybe a 0-130mph race.
btw alot of great info and i just signed up ::

-On a dig hell probably get a few car lengths on you because of the AWD. After a bit though, those drive train losses will come into effect, you should gain on him and start pulling away. Stock for Stock ive raced an STi with just exhaust, on a 30 mph roll i pulled about 1-2 car lengths hitting 120-130. :rocks:. Let me know how it goes!

First of all, be carefulracing on city streets!

I've raced a couple STIs on the track and I puled away from them.
You'll have a much easier time from a roll.

You will win. Especially from a roll.

You should win if he only has a catback.

One more thing...STI's are ugly.

An almost stock STi, cakewalk.

With my old WRX it was heavily modded, a bit over 60HP over stock. I just kept with a 335 while ago when I was thinking of buying one.

Good luck keep out of trouble

Try to add a little 110 race fuel before you go out to seal the deal. Night and day difference with my procede. I have never raced a STI but both Evo's I ran I walked pretty good.

Yes, sneak in some higher octane gas. He'll probably do the same thing with his car and not tell you.

thanks alot for all the replies guys, i appreciate it, great forum.
yea gonna try from a roll a few times.

my 335i coupe with the Turbo Tuner and Track package(oil cooler, temp gauge, etc.) feels really good. faster than his sti.
i know if he dumps his clutch from a dig at 6k rpm he should jump 2 cars but i dont think he will cuz he dont wanna break his tranny.as some 07 sti are having tranny and throttle hesitation issues.
thanks again guys

you should win considering he has an intake on a subaru which has sometimes proven to hurt performance, please tell him to seek a custom tune, the intake is more than likely doing wierd things to fueling.

I have the TT and to parrot most of the posts here...from a roll, you will win.

And don't conclude that he will jump two lengths ahead. In my experience, the 335s torque makes for a foolproof launch.

So, do like Tiger does..play the course. Pretend he is not there and if you do do the basics right, he won't be there!

I raced a guy in an 07 STi ( He claims he was running 330hp at the crank) with a Turboback exhaust, blow off valve, air intake and ECU program and I beat him pretty bad and I'm stock (I'm about to order proceed now). Also this is from a rolling start. My last car was a modified WRX Sti, and the reason for the bad beat is because WRX and WRX STi, really does not have a very good top end at all. Bottom end on the subies are very good but not better than the 335. After the middle of my third gear I started to pull away. I could not believe how bad I beat him I can't imagine what the turbo tuner or for that matter proceed will do to the subie. From a 40mph roll, you will walk him.

Exactly. No top end, when it came to high speeds, I had no umf. All my power was low end.

Such a shame. Legacy, was it the gearing ratio or something else that causes bad top end?

330hp at the crank with a turboback AND a tune? That sucks. OTS Cobb AccessPort gets you to about 350hp/380tq.
Intakes and BOVs do nothing and can actually hurt performance if not tuned for them.

Guys, you are all missing a major point here. He said the STI has a body kit AND glowing guages. Sorry, 335i gets P0wned by STI's with those mods!

I don't think you are going to be ahead the whole time, have you ever seen a awd car launch like a raped ape? Stis have been known to go 13 flat bone stock, down to 11.7 with mearly exhaust and a mbc. If you guys are just to go quarter mile speeds it WILL be a drivers race, your brothers chioces in mods are poor at best, his money could have got him much further. Hear are a couple of links check it out.
