Intake manifold installation help

Any tips or tricks to get the intake manifold seated correctly? After multiple attempts I cannot get the throttle bodies closest to the firewall to seat all the way. Boots / seals are in good shape. Clamps loosed etc.

Any help would be appreciated

Line them up and then press firmly and quickly with both hands.

Nothing obvious in the way. The hose in the back eventually gets plugged in. Don’t think that’s the issue. I’ve pressed firmly with both hands, and eventually beat the shit out of it in frustration. Still made no progress. It can’t be this hard to get it on. The front 4 I can get on a snugged up, but the rear for barely get onto the boots.

Clamps aren't loose enough, it's honestly the only thing that would prevent it from going in. Also, don't force it too much, the plenum will crack, I've seen it happen.

Furthermore, the rubber boots tend to fold over on themselves if the plenum isn't lined up. I would check that as well when you're putting it on.

get a small amount of lubricant and wipe the inside of the boots. not enough to get pressed out anywhere or take up any space- just enough to very lightly coat.
try feeding it into the rear boots first with the front of the plenum angled up slightly. then lower the front. tappa tappa.

Tips for installing Intake Manifold

I, like others, found out that using some high-temperature Lithium Grease on the outside of the plastic holes on the Intake Manifold as well as on the inside of the rubber sleeves on the engine's metallic velocity stacks. But before I did this I took a debur tool and ever so lightly scraped at the outside of the plastic intake manifolds velocity stacks. Just a sliver, the width of a human hair, was removed. I would think that fine sandpaper would also work. It was this sharb burr that was pinching the rubber gaskets on the metallic velocity stacks and causing me grief when seating the intake manifold. After performing these operations, it only took one time to get the manifold seated.
