I use the same and totally agree - it is magic. To reduce the amount of physical effort I usually wrap a few strands around a Dremel head and let the Dremel do all the work.

Oh trust me, the amount of work amounted to washing my car x100 lol... it wasn't an easy task especially since this was the first polish. Did it all by hand, but next round I will wrap a thick piece around a drill like you did, that should do the trick

I use Flitz. Doesn't require steel wool, I use old t-shirts as rags. You apply it, rub it in/around, and then use a clean part of the rag to begin removing. I can do all 4 pipes in 10 minutes or less.

P21S Polishing Soap as needed (maintenance cleaning). Comes with a sponge and I'll occasionally use an old toothbrush to get in the hard-to-reach areas.

For removing baked-on crap, I use 0000 steel wool and follow it up with the above P21S.

Honestly, don't overthink it -- metal polishes all work pretty much the same, there's no big secret to it.
