New paddle shifters installed but not working properly, any ideas?

I just installed new aluminum paddles but I have an odd issue. They only work if I pull the very top of the paddle. If I pull the middle or bottom nothing happens. The only thing I thought it could be is they weren't securely mounted in the assembly but they feel exactly as the oem ones when I pull them. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Ok....it's kind of hard to see if it's sitting properly. It seems you have to go by feel, and it "felt" proper, but I'll give that a shot. Thnx!

When you say reconnect them do you mean the brown wires that connect them to the steering wheel or pull a part the entire assembly exposing the metal ball and spring and re-apply grease there?

If you haven't got them working yet, same thing happened to me. When it's disassembled you will see I think 2 little rectangular copper pieces, you have to pull those "up" if that makes sense. When they are flat they don't make full contact for the paddles to work top to bottom. It's been about 2 months since I did it, but I think you will understand what I mean.

I haven't had a chance to disassemble them yet. Probably next weekend . I think I know what you are talking about . Good to know Im not the only one who has had the issue. I was a little apprehensive about taking them apart again without a definitive plan because all the little plastic tabs seem fragile but now I that I have a potential fix I feel better about the repair . Thanks ! I'll let you know how it goes

Take them apart and inspect the small electrical connectors - in my case, the grease from the spring/ball bearing had found its way onto the electrical contacts and was causing the car to upshift twice on each paddle pull.. cleaned off the connectors and all has been well since.

Hi Guys , new to this forum hoping to get some info. Was trying some new shifters and did not like the look and when I replace the OEM shifters its not changing gears. I removed it a few times cleaned the like the gold connections put it back in and also put the ball bearing back in and I think the correct was as I can move the shifter ok. also the back plastic section that the shifter screws on has a spring that can come out. The copper connectors how far do pul them out tried that too, don't want to break them.
Any ideas would be great before I have to buy another one.
Thanks
Chris.
