Hi all,

I'm currently running full akra evo, I have smog coming up in May and I need to borrow an oem mid pipe or full pipes for registration renewal (w/cats of course). Preferably detached so I wouldn't have to pay labor on two cars.

Would anyone be kind enough to let me borrow their pipes if I'm willing to put a deposit down or you can hold on to my DL?

Or would you guys refer any shop that stocks mid pipes already and can do a swap on site?

I'm located in the Bay Area.

Thanks in advance.

Look up the tuners. They usually have TONS of them just sitting around. Maybe Alexshop?

Have you tried to pass via visual first?
If your IM monitors are all ready (only 1 can be "not ready") and your car doesn't have emissions past the average, you might pass.

Worst case, you can go, fail and only pay for the test. The retest is free IIRC

I plugged in the OBD2 scanner and it seems like the delete R was preventing the drive cycle from running the cat and o2, so the car won't detect the cats are gone.

I tried taking the delete R out and do a drive cycle, I threw codes for both cats as soon as I did the 60 mph drive cycle.

I'm serious. I have an ESS stage 2 tune, pulleys intake and macht schnell pipes. It passed smog no problem. I even had a guy who was going to "help" me and he was surprised. No swap needed. Find the right guy.

so you can do test pipes and tune to get rid of the CEL and it will pass? Im thinking of moving back to socal and looking to get test pipes but keep the secondary and stock xpipe. just afraid of it not passing smog

Was this a straight up standard smog test? I'm assuming they let the visual go since you passed the OBD port test?
Or was this a sniffer test?

Great info. Thanks.
