[Video]: What is this noise? HELP!

This now happens only in reverse. Last night coming home from the Baltimore Grand Prix, it was about 10x as loud going in drive. I had my car towed to a dealer but it won't be looked at till Tuesday. Any help is greatly appreciated. It sounds like grinding, and the issue is intermittent.

I can flash back to stock, but i doubt the DCT tune will be any issue. Appointment to go in Wednesday.

Because it's intermittent, I'm hoping they can find the problem and fix it.

It almost sounds like an exhaust rattle against a heat shield, but it's difficult to tell by the video. Perhaps wiggle the exhaust with your hands and see if it contacts anything?

Possibly this. I had similar issue with aftermarket x pipe and crossmember. Had to shim the crossmember with washers.

Hmm, I'll look into it but why would it happen in reverse only?

Magic! I'm not sure why that would be.

Load reversal causes things to shift in an opposite direction than they normally do in forward gears. Certain x pipes that are larger in diameter come with spacers to prevent this. If it is indeed x pipe related. Make sure the mufflers aren't contacting the rear bumper or the rear subframe either.

Should I look for any damage?

Not necessarily damage, but perhaps a small contact patch on the exhaust and what it may be contacting. If indeed that is the source of the noise.

It sounds like the exhaust is rubbing. Mine occasionally does that too, but I only hear it with the top up because it makes the roof rattle. If you get it on a lift you can tell. You can put in an extra washer on each side to drop it a few millimeters. That may help.

Taking it in Wednesday. What part of the exhaust would it be? X Pipe?

i would still say x-pipe, thats where mine rattled right at the crossmember but it could be anywhere along the entire length just about depending on install.
