No matter how many times these same points are rehashed and proven false, somebody always brings them up again. And when it's a guy who's been around and been in all the bearing threads for years, it's hard to explain why the explanation doesn't stick.

Update on my m3 as follows.
I reached out to the Indy shop today, to check the status of my m3. They told me that they are way behind schedule. And my car most likely won’t be done until next week!! (The car is currently on the lift, with no subframe).. I don’t know how I’m going to wait that long. |

Just got an update!!!
New bearings were installed ! No damage to the crank!! Very little copper showing on the 1 or 2 bearings! That’s such a relief. You have no idea. C: |

They saved the bearings for me.
I’ll get them, and post pictures ASAP **Off subject question. I have to order plugs and o2 sensors. Will these work ? Last edited by bmwpower603; 06-12-2019 at 05:01 PM.. |

Also, in Canada, best price I have found without ordering from the USA is $19.28 CAD for 1 plug. Most places are over $20 each here. Absolute BS. Glad your car is back in one piece. Plugs and O2 sensors are easy to swap. Make sure you have at least one old metal coat hanger you can sacrifice!!

I combed though the maintenance records I got from the original owner.
Valve cover and plugs were done at 118k. I’ll check again, but I don’t think the coils were ever done... I know I should be replacing the coils as well. Especially with having 175k miles. Hopefully plugs will eliminate the low rpm misfire. |

Definitely do plugs, coils, and the oil separators on the vehicle. If the separators have never been done I'm sure they are caked with old oil. I'd probably also do a complete fluid flush on the entire car since it's made it so long on what could be original fluids. The drain and fill procedures are pretty straight forward.

Have you seen the price of ignition coils? Complete waste of money if they are working properly. Since they're easy enough to replace, it doesn't make sense to do them preemptively. These aren't broken N54 engines that are constantly fouling up spark plugs and ignition coils.
