My car currently has Style 359 rims that I was planning to have refinished over the winter. There is some curb rash, one nasty pot hole mark (lucky I didn't get a flat) and flaking paint from previous owner's on-site refinishing. The worst rim is pictured (spot at 10 o'clock)

Recently I've been contemplating switching to some 18" rims. What would you ask for a set that would need refinishing & what would you ask for a freshly refinished set?

proper refinishing is not cheap, especially for the OEM hyper silver color. That being said, an on site refinish job really ruins the look and value of the wheel. So either pay for quality refinish and keep the wheels, or sell as if and take a loss.

Yes, everything on a car is a loss. I'm willing to have them refinished and still may keep them. But the question is how much would you pay for a set of 359s that need refinishing.? The classified have many black versions, and worn ones had tires.

I think really nicely refinished wheels would be $1500~ and wheels in need of refinishing would be $1100-1200~. Brand new wheels can be found for $2400.

If that is the worst wheel, there is no way you will recover even half of the cost of refinishing.

Hypersilver is tough to refinish and replicate. Expect $125-150 per wheel for that, and be damn sure the place has experience doing it. It's NOT just a basic silver, it's multiple layers and uses translucent/tinted clear, IIRC.

My wheel shop suggested refinishing both wheels on the same side of the car so you can't really tell the minor differences to OEM.
