can a rear wheel speed sensor trigger transmission faults?

was at a track day yesterday. car ran like a champ, 5 20 minute sessions. as I was leaving the track to go home, got a christmas tree (i mean.. if something's gonna break at a track day, the drive home is probably the best option?). Importantly (I think), I got DBC/ABS error a few seconds before the transmission errors.

scanned it, got:

5DC1: DSC Wheel speed sensor, plausibility, rear-right
5DC6: DSC Wheel speed sensor, direction of rotation, rear-right
5A74: DKG Transmission input speed sensor, sub-transmission 1: value implausible
5A75: DKG Transmission input speed sensor, sub-transmission 2: value implausible

Additional symptoms: I was driving in D2, at 10-15 mph, and it jerked (as if you pressed the clutch pedal and then released it), and then couldn't decide what gear to be in, kept going back and forth between first and second. When I parked it, the dash gear indicator kept flickering between P and N. I then drove home ~80 miles in manual mode with 0 issues, so it's only affecting D mode.

The car had issues with that wheel speed sensor when the PO had it, and he replaced it but said something about the harness being messed up at the wheel, so that's my first stop regardless. I'm just wondering if I just bought a new DCT, or if this is all downstream effects of the wheel speed sensor.

I think I have an M3 problem.

Yes it can. In fact each speed sensor that goes bad may trigger different codes. I had one go, then a second a while later, then a third so I just replaced all 4. It is easy to do yourself too.

Good luck.

fingers crossed. got two for the rears to just do both, and also two of these repair kits: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/61129151113/

PO mentioned that the connector had broken and he got it back together somehow but I'm not f'ing around this time.

Wheel speed sensors are a biatch. Jsut change all 4 when one goes. Get them from FCP cos they will go again.

Yep. Had this issue with mine as well. Right hand side of the car had failing wheel speed sensors, once the rear went the DCT didn't know how to shift properly past 2nd. It figured out after about 20/30 seconds sitting in second it should shift to 3rd and after that it was fine until I restarted the car again.

I also recommend not buying cheap ones, I tried two cheaper options for wheel speed sensors and both ended up not working, also had to replace the connectors on the car side because the plastic was crumbling away. Pretty easy to pull the wire out and slot it into a new connector

Nice. Yeah, I bought OE ones plus the connector repair kit.

The only thing I’m a little concerned about is that it threw a dct temp code error momentarily too. It went away right away, but hopefully that’s also some weird side effect, and not that sensor sh*tting the bed, that’s a trans-out job.

The BMW part number is 34527853586.
The exact OE part is ATE brand with part number 360352 or 24.0711-6209.3
