UK Gallon is about 25% bigger than a US gallon so 25mpg UK is roughly 20mpg US.
US rates the M3 as 19mpg highway so not that far off.

Still... 20MPG is a big difference over the long haul. However, still find it hard to believe that the M3 could get 20MPG when most owners are posting in the low 'teens' on these threads...

According to the on board computer mine has averaged over 20mpg over it's 8k mile life... I'm quite ashamed of that to be honest.

The question is how heavy of a foot are these people driving with to see mileage in the low teens. Also, what ratio of city to highway driving are they doing? 20mpg should be obtainable on the highway.

Maybe they'll do the same when special editions come over to North America.

Probably because per capita we buy more M3s. Just a guess, but there are thousands of them on the road, it's not a rare sight to see an M3 from the E36 through to E9x (the E30 is still very rare, more reps than real...). I've had two and my brother in law has one. There's a few in my car park at work. This is all pulled out of my ass, though, and I live in the south east which is the most affluent area of the country so that skews it.

Nice way to get rid of inventory for the F30 M3 by the "special" designation laser cut into the trim inlay on the dashboard lol!

Would the US version be able to get brake regeneration without BMW having to get the M3
re-certified through the DOT once again? I heard the process is rather costly to the manufacturer (seven figures). Is that why Europe gets these special editions and we don't?

BMW would have to crash so many of these special edition cars that it doesn't make sense to even bring it to the US market.
