With the oil diverter my car still reached 285* temps.
I think the diverter contribution is helping cooling off quicker. My car does cool off rather quickly when I short shift or take a cooling lap. However, full pace at WGI I did manage to get to High temp warning. Interestingly enough is that at PMP, NYST and LRP I no longer get the temp warning. Only at WGI. I have the full do88 kit, oil diverter and OEM T-stat |

Didn't know you were SCed, that explains it. I think our cars are impossible to keep cool with a SC thrown into the mix

I sold my car not too long ago. Supercharged e9x m3 can be fun to drive in a cool weather , but anything over 70f was giving me a lot of overheating issues, loss of power due to the engine heat soak.
And that issue didn't go away after installing do 88 cooling stuff, hood and fender vents.

VIR North Course was a blast, made improvements on all grading areas for D group thankfully. Next time I'm absolutely bringing an ice cooler with cold water and maybe popcicles, I had to tap out on the last two Sunday sessions due to heat fatigue just melting my brain and killing my track performance.
Thankfully one of my friends had a canopy, but warm parking lot water didn't help me regulate body temps as much as I needed. Probably time to start logging efforts so far in an HPDE post. |

Those misters are pretty awesome!
We did the 24h of lemons race at THill in 2021 during memorial day. Never again, it was 115 degrees in the shade that Sunday. It had to be 130+ in the car. Even with coolshirts it was hardly tolerable for just an hour. That place is a hellhole from basically April to November.

Lol, I don't think it's that bad… I could imagine it is during a 24hour race when you're in the car for hours but 20 minute sessions… meh. Typically doesn't hit triple digits till 3-4pm. Hydrate up and no need to take it easy on the out lap. Those tires are plenty warm lol.

Years ago - as an instructor for PCA - I saw students develop brain fog on hot days in the Southeast caused by mild dehydration and electrolyte loss. A good idea is to eat a banana for breakfast (to potassium load) and even take a bottle of Pedialyte (Gatoraid is sugar loaded). Eat some more bananas at lunchtime too - especially at Southern Tracks like Roebling Road, VIR, Carolina Motorsports Park, Sebring, Lowes Motor Speedway etc. where there's a total lack of shade in the paddocks. Drink lots of water... If your'e not going to the Men's room every 90 to 120 minutes then your fluid intake is too low compared to your fluid loss through sweating. This condition (dehydration) can be quite dangerous when combined with HPDE risks. Loss of consciousness (fainting) from heat stroke can also happen suddenly.

I had an almost good hydration routine of about 6L/day and added in Gatorade on Sunday, but I've gotta pair that with a proper nutrition routine too. I think I had compound fatigue heading into Sunday from not being 100% on the ball with the water/hour ratio on Saturday. These are all great suggestions!

People acclimate to it too, if you spend more time in the heat the less it'll bother you. There's those sicko's out there who run marathons and Ironmans in extreme weather 😂 they train for it. I like to "train" for it too but it typically entails 18 holes and beer.

This is the only work or "training" I do on a hot day.

FYI - tomorrow is an open test day at Buttonwillow, by far the best $/hr of seat time you can get. $175/day... Full open track from 8am-4pm.
Last minute decision to street drive the car down to BW, still waiting on my Pinnacle cage but couldn't resist cheap seat time.
