off topic, but i'm a big 2nd gen viper fan and this one is brand new with all the factory stuff on it. i love time capsule cars, no matter what it is, but this is ultra cool.

Man I have such weird luck with this subframe. Literally the solid bushings went in no problem with a press. But I CAN NOT get these turner delrin diff's in. I keep breaking bolts, tried heating them and it started to melt them a smidge

Been a few nice vipers rolling through there lately. Just can't for the life of me understand how someone can own cars like these and never, ever drive them. I get that that's what works for some people - but I just couldn't fathom seeing that car and being able to resist the urge to go flog the crap out of it.

Right. I love it, but I wouldn't want it. I'm going to have a 2nd gen gts when it fits into my life someday, but my car will be a driver.

When I bought the Corvette, I seriously considered a fifth-gen Viper. Pricing was on-par with the C7 GS and they were sufficiently modern that I wouldn't feel like I was missing out on features I wanted.

Biggest reason I didn't go that way is that all of the automotive press said they were notoriously difficult to drive fast...and the C7 was just stupidly easy to extract all of the performance. Vipers are also fatiguing to drive for very long whereas the C7 was quite comfortable and civilized.

Still, if I wanted something insane that doesn't break the bank, a Viper is tough to argue against.

You may need to find someone with a press or buy the harbor freight one and go after them.

You could put a piece of dry ice on the bushings and hope that shrinks the enough so you can get them in; but hope is rarely a great strategy.

Weren't the airboxes required to be stock? Maybe even a restrictor plate as well?

I'm more amazed at all the gold colored tape under the hood. Gold is an excellent conductor. Never understood why folks though it kept heat out.

Yeah I wish I would have stuck these in the freezer.

I have the harbor freight shop press but I have no clue how one would situate it on there to press in.

Either way they melted from heat so a second set is on the way lol. I should have froze/greased some more

yes. Leave the bushings in the freezer for a day before install and then take one out at a time. Did you get the subframe powder coated or just painted? Might want to scuff that out of the ID of the subframe to get another 0.0005" clearance.

Powder coated. He did his best not to spray in the bushing areas after blasting. Def might be worth scuffing.

The rear one called for red loctite and went in easy. I'm guessing I didn't lube the front ones enough.

Weirdly the solid subs have been the easiest part of this job LOL

Powder coat is 2-5 thousandths of an inch usually. That would decrease your ID by 4-10 thousandths. Time for the drum sanding attachment on your drill.

Would a bench vise be an easier tool to get the subframe situated?

And maybe a brake hone to remove any powder coat buildup?

It would until the last 1/8th or so. There's a little metal sleeve that protrudes past

What about some sort of a spacer that the protruding material can slip into?

Doesn't even have to be round, two square supports would work?

Big sockets work great for this. Impact would be preferred.

Anyone have feedback on the conti contact forces? I was set on running the rt660's but they look back ordered until the end of spring for 275/35/18

They're all the rage. Seem to have good life while being pretty fast too.

Will be my next tire choice. Couple of folks here running them and seem happy overall
