As part of all that it has been recommended to me to add the anti-knockback springs so I ordered them. They're pretty inexpensive so probably worth adding.
Which springs strength/rate did you go with? The springs themselves are cheap but it seems like a light tap on the brakes before a braking zone has fewer disadvantages overall.

I went for the 6lb ones. I don't think I would mind doing the light-tap before the braking zone thing either, but in my situation the kit I got needed a rebuild of boots and seals anyway so figured I might as well add the springs while I have it all apart.

As of now, not really. I will more likely do some of the SCCA TT's as my car is better setup for their classing on 200tw at this point, but maybe next year

We're Really spoiled in TX. Especially Dallas area is I feel like... I live in Downtown Dallas and can get to Cresson in an hour, Eagles Canyon in an hour.
3 hours to COTA, 4 hours to MSR Houston, 4.5 hours to Hallett.
The most-often used local lot for autocross is a mere 15minutes from my house LOL
NOLA would be 8hours, Heartland Park 7, and Barber 9. They're all on my list to make a weekend out of soon.
You have any plans to sign up with NASA and do Time Trial events this year?
How much time do you drive at speed in TT? Seems like it's just a few laps to qualify, then a hot lap or two on new A7s at each event. It doesn't seem like much driving at speed. What am I missing?

Thanks!
I usually get more clean laps in a weekend with TT than trying to deal with traffic with groups like TDE or PCA. I have only one instance in 6 years where I ran a faster lap in an HPDE than I did in a TT event. 1:47 at TWS (RiP). Plus the competition adds a fun factor.

Have you done TT yet?

Also, they are not mutually exclusive. You can do a few TT events per year and do as many HPDE's as you wish.

Are you going to be running TT at MSR Houston in a couple of weeks? If so please don't run over me I'll likely be that slow guy in TT3

There are two new 285/35/19 on ebay that would allow me to try this tire inexpensively

I'm no slicer here but I think 285/35/19 may be too tall.

Completely unrelated and off topic- but my truck is running like shit. What would be the theoretical code that would come up for old fuel? MAF sensor perhaps? That's all I'm getting.
Vacuum lines look good. I thought maybe a rat got in there or something, but it's visually ok.

Close to ready but far from finished

Harris Hill is going to be next week & maybe some the following week before we head to Houston. We have pushed back some items (i.e. the intake work, aesthetics) until after SCCA at COTA Feb 8 & 9. Main goal for Houston is to walk away with my NASA race license - safety and reliability are my focus point for the car right now. You're car ready for H2R in Feb/Mar?

I have a sneaking suspicion that will seriously not be an issue

Assuming you are the same thundermoose on track junkies I have been watching the video you posted from msr houston - you are seriously fast. It's my go to video for my track prep right now

I have not tested 285/35/19 in the rear. No reason to go there when 295/30/19 exists. However, I have seen 285/30/20 used in the past. It was a somewhat common size when 20" were installed on e9x back in the day. It will probably work.

The 285/35/19 is taller than the 285/30/20
So, as you already said, the 275/35/19 is safer size.

I think my car will be ready by April. Got to get the rod bearings done in March and I am planning to go to a PCA event right after, March 28th at ECR. But I'd love to hang out at h2r and help you test

Speaking TT, anyone know what size A7 will fit the 282mm template on either a 10in or 10.5in wheel? Trying not to spend to much on figuring out the size. Thanks in advanced.

I've never considered TT until now. I instruct a bunch and race 2-4 WRL events per year. Our WRL team won the overall GP1 title last year which is really cool. I still drive my M3 on the street so I would likely have to do more to the car. Fun considering other options though!
Thanks!

Congrats on GP1 title!

No need to do anything to your car. TT follows HPDE safety requirements. Even if car is not optimized to rule set you'll still go faster and get cleaner laps than in the HPDE groups. Especially if you're already a racer, you'll get more purposeful track time in your street car. Hope to see you soon. Our mutual friend Scott Landon had a similar reluctance but that was wiped away after his first TT session.

You can drive the entire TT session. Correct me if I'm wrong...I think if you're using an auto-x tire like an A7, you run as few laps as possible on those.

I'm thinking I will need a set of practice/warm up tires and then throw on the sticker tires for the fast session(s).

Coach me Thundermoose!

If you're trying to win then you'll use your A7's sparingly. But I have run 25 minutes sessions on A7's over multiple days with no issues.

For TT, you end up with a few sets of A7's. Sticker set each event depending on your budget or if you're fortunate to win tires. The scrubs become your practice and warm up sets. You can set fastest times though in first several HC's of a new set.

Just got off the phone with Andie from cobalt friction brakes. What a knowledgeable dude. Ordered some XR1's and XR3's for my car.

I also reserved a trailer. My tekonsha p3 brake controller came and the install looks super simple. Now I just have to get my front rotors machined, flush fluid, and mount some pirelli dh scrubs and I'm all set.

and a question for those that tow- do you lock your car while in transit? does the tilt sensor set the alarm off or anything? i'm not sure how that works... first time towing anything.
