Thanks. I’m going to go with the lightest possible option which is Ti straight pipe and just start wearing earplugs (and maybe passing some out around the paddock to anyone that complains ).

Thunderhill East (Bypass) 1:56.86 (PB). This was on fresh 275/35/18 RE71RS. The car is still under steering and felt dancier on these tires vs. the 295/30 equivalent. I made two decent mistakes exiting T9 and also entering T14 too hot. If the stars align, I believe there is a 1:55.XX in this configuration. My last shot will be tomorrow morning before the car undergoes a sizeable transformation including Karbonius carbon doors, M24 hood, Bimmerworld trunk, Flossman Fenders, M24 door cards and more weight loss. I'm also going to dyno the car to see if Randy at Epic can squeeze out any more power.

I connected my friend to a Ti fab guy for building an E92 M3 exhaust, and during the process my friend was talking about total weight figures with me. I asked what the difference was without mufflers. Then I told him to scrap the mufflers for lightweight…damn, I regret that every time I’m near him in the paddock lmao.

Accidentally posted this in someone's track journal by mistake:
Question about moving from street tires to Hankook RS4s. I'm on stock calipers with PFC08s and about to move to 219m rear square with RS4s. How much will 200tw tires change the the oil temperatures/overall heat profile? I'll be able to do more WOT into braking zones at VIR. On street tires and coasting half of the long straights, I've seen oil temps around 230f-250f mid session with a ballpark 2:29-2:30 consistent lap time. |

I'm sure some might disagree, but until you're consistently seeing 280+ oil temps, I wouldn't be overly concerned... Even then, you'll just need to change your oil a bit more regularly as it will break down a bit quicker.
I don't think you'll have a huge increase in oil temps going to the RS4s, they aren't that much stickier in comparison (but they will be much better on track). |

Cmassey3 like others have mentioned, I think you don’t have anything to be concerned about. There are so many long straights to help cool things down. Even the cool down from Oak tree back to the paddock should be sufficient. If not, loop up toward the main gate and come back. Any cooling enhancements done to the car at all?

Already posted in the discord but throwing it up here. I'm slow but dparm has provided some good insight on things I need to work on. Thanks!

Accelerating into corners is what's throwing me off, especially into 1. Extend that braking zone by decreasing pressure on the brake pedal and trail brake slightly to the apex. I think you're 10 MPH from the limit going through turn 1 at least.
Turn 2 looked you turned in too much and you could have stayed in 4th gear as well for some free traction control. It's easy to lose control of the rear at >6k RPM, nearly full throttle, and that much steering input coming out of turn 2 as seen in that lap. You can find over a second improving just those two corners.

May is around the corner and that means it's time for spring cleaning. This is a short howto on deep cleaning your calipers.
Start by taking a wheel off to get better access to the caliper. Next, get several clean towels and start wiping off the brake dust and dirt. Switch to clean towel to avoid damaging the paint with a dirty towel. Make sure to get into every crevice and use some elbow grease to clean up every bit of dirt.

Has anyone here tried a brake cooling kit on stock rotor/calipers? I’m leaning towards the pinnacle motorsports kit. Overheated the brakes on a 55 degree day with fresh fluid, semi-track pads.

Which fresh fluid? It would be alot easier to run a proper track pad that wants and likes heat, along with the highest temp fluid you can get, then to f around with ducting.
Ducting is for when you’re already on a dedicated track pad, with endless fluid in the lines and it’s 95 degrees out, and you need to control brake temps while keeping the pace high to maintain pad life for a given duration longer than a DE session. |
